🌿 PARASITE AWARENESS SERIES
Preparation is EVERYTHING ‼️
One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is jumping straight into a parasite cleanse.
They hear about a parasite protocol…
Order a few herbs…
Take an antiparasitic product…
And expect miracles.
Unfortunately, that’s often when people begin to feel terrible.
Why?
Because killing parasites is only one small part of the process.
The real question is…
Can your body safely eliminate what is being released?
⸻
🌱 Think of your body like a house.
Imagine cleaning out a room that’s been neglected for years.
If you simply start throwing everything into the hallway without opening the doors or taking out the trash…
What happens?
The house becomes even messier.
The same principle applies during many detox programs.
Whether you’re using herbs, prescription medications, or dietary approaches, your body still has to process and eliminate waste products.
That’s why, in holistic practice, we often say:
“Open the pathways before you start the cleanse.”
⸻
💚 Step 1 – Support healthy bowel function
Your colon is one of your body’s primary elimination routes.
If you’re not having regular bowel movements, waste can remain in the digestive tract longer than intended.
Many practitioners therefore focus first on supporting regular bowel habits through hydration, appropriate dietary fiber (when suitable), movement, and other individualized strategies before beginning a cleanse.
⸻
💧 Step 2 – Hydrate your body
Water supports many normal body functions.
During a wellness program, staying well hydrated may help support normal kidney function and overall well-being.
I always encourage my clients to drink enough clean water throughout the day and to replenish electrolytes when appropriate.
⸻
🌿 Step 3 – Support the liver
Your liver is one of your body’s major organs involved in processing and removing waste products.
In holistic wellness, many people choose to support liver function before and during a cleanse with nutrient-rich foods or traditional herbs such as milk thistle, dandelion root, artichoke, or turmeric.
Supporting liver health is a common part of many integrative detox programs.
⸻
🫧 Step 4 – Keep the drainage pathways moving
Holistic practitioners often talk about the body’s natural “drainage pathways.”
These include the colon, kidneys, liver, lymphatic system, lungs, and skin.
Many people include gentle movement, sweating, dry brushing, massage, deep breathing, and adequate sleep as part of their overall wellness routine to support these natural processes.
⸻
🧲 Step 5 – Understanding binders
One topic that often causes confusion is binders.
In holistic detox programs, binders are sometimes used with the goal of helping bind certain substances within the digestive tract so they can be eliminated in the stool.
Examples commonly used include:
• Activated Charcoal
• Bentonite Clay
• Zeolite
• Chlorella
• Shilajit
• Fulvic Acid
• DE
• Modified Citrus Pectin (in some protocols)
Because binders may also interfere with the absorption of medications and nutrients, they should be timed carefully and used thoughtfully. It’s important to discuss them with a qualified healthcare professional if you take prescription medications.
⸻
💤 Step 6 – Rest and recovery
Your body performs many important repair and maintenance functions while you sleep.
Supporting good sleep, managing stress, and ensuring adequate nutrition are just as important as any supplement or herbal product.
A successful wellness protocol is about supporting the whole body—not just focusing on one aspect.
⸻
🌿 There is no “magic pill.”
Whether someone chooses a conventional medical treatment, a practitioner-guided herbal program, or a combination of approaches, preparation and aftercare matter.
Healing is not about rushing.
It’s about giving your body the support it needs, step by step.
⸻
