Kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew)
Kimchi stew (kimchi jjigae) combines kimchi with other ingredients such as beef, pork, onions, garlic, and tofu and is served bubbling hot. Fiery, hearty, and full of flavor. It's one of the most popular stews in Korea.
👉🏻 FUN FACT: Kimchi is known to have been eaten as pickled vegetables and only became the kimchi known today in the mid-Joseon era, when chili peppers were first introduced to the country. Kimchi jjigae is assumed to have been developed around this time, as well.
We serve kimchi jjigae daily at Onul! Check us out in Harmin Industrial for some traditional Korean dishes and flavors.
