Eco-Hotel Mayachik'

Eco-Hotel Mayachik' MayAchik is an ecological hotel where you can enjoy a peaceful retreat in a natural environment. Later, you can even end your day with a soothing massage.

MayAchik is an ecologically constructed natural paradise, enjoyed by people from all over the world. It is a place where you can appreciate full contact with nature while having an exclusive view of the impressive mountain formation Rostro Maya (the Indian Nose). MayAchik is constructed with local natural materials (adobe, stone, wood, and palm leaves) and traditional building techniques. As part of our aim of self-sustainability we are not only using solar panels to supply energy and hot water, but we are also reducing our water consumption throughout the site using dry compost toilets. In MayAchik’ we have an organic garden filled with fragrant and flavorsome herbs which season the dishes served in our restaurant. There are several fruit trees from which we make mouth-watering desserts, ice-creams and cakes. In our restaurant we offer a wide range of delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes. You can choose from our menu options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, desserts, cakes and much more. Coffee lovers should sample aromatic MayAchik’ Coffee, which they can enjoy surrounded by our very own coffee plants. MayAchik’ (meaning “Mayan Magical Dream” in Tz’utujil) is a dream that you will not want to wake up from. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind in lush, green surroundings, enjoy vegetarian food, sooth your body in our Temazcal (traditional Mayan sauna) and take a siesta in one of the many hammocks in our garden. Energize yourself on one of the many local hikes and excursions or join our workshops and experience local culture unique to San Juan.

Plátanos con Mole (Plantain with Mole) is a dish traditionally shared rather than eaten alone. You can find it at markets, family gatherings, and local festivals.

At MayAchik, you’ll find it on our menu as it’s always been made — just plantains, mole, and the most important ingredient in our kitchen: love.

It’s International Dog Day 🐶 If you visit MayAchik‘, say hello to Bubu and Luna.

Which one would you make friends with first, Bubu or Luna? And do you have a rescue story of your own?

Seven words, one place. This is what MayAchik means to us. What would you add to the list?

Seven words, one place. This is what MayAchik means to us. What would you add to the list?

Trotter Guatemala & Belize has listed MayAchik' for years — the vegetarian restaurant, the garden, the way people are welcomed here. It's one of those guidebook entries that quietly keeps working long after it's printed. Guests still arrive with the book in their bag, page already marked, sometimes years after the edition came out.

One guest did exactly that this season. She'd read the description, but she wanted to see it for herself — the food, the garden, and the composting system the guide mentions. After her meal, she told us what she thought, on camera and unprompted: the food was good, and yes, the compost toilets smell fine too.

It's a small detail, but it's the one people ask about before anything else. A guidebook can describe a place. A guest walking through it and saying so herself does something a description can't.

That is the idea behind a stay at MayAchik.

No cell phone to check. No schedule telling you what’s next. Just a hammock on the porch, something good cooking in Britney’s kitchen, and a short walk into San Juan La Laguna to watch the weavers at work.

A few days without a plan change the way you perceive things—the sound of the birds, the taste of a freshly prepared meal, the fact that no one is in a hurry.

What would you let go of for a few days?
