Taverna Seragio

Taverna Seragio A beautiful tavern in the picturesque ancient village of Etia. It is melt-in-the-mouth delicious.

Seragio Teverna is set within the beautfully restored Venetian village of Etia, high in the mountains about 20 km south of Sitia. According to the local guidebook, Etia was the home of the wealthy De Mezzo family during the Venetian occupation of Crete during the 15th Century and the buildings are considered some of the best examples of that period's architecture. Seragio has been tastefully resto

red within the old village and has a large, shaded terrace with far-reaching views -- a perfect place to enjoy a meal. The speciality of the house is a dish of tender chicken pieces cooked in the oven in oil and herbs. There is also a large and airy indoor seating area, and the toilets/restrooms are clean and well-appointed. To find Etia on the main road road from Sitia to the south coast, turn off towards Ziros and Handras and the village and taverna is easy to see on the right after about five minutes' driving.
