Dear friends, I would like to inform you that this Saturday (and every Saturday) Cafe Platanos will be closed.

At last, the first Cephallonian India Pale Ale as well as a new local lager.

We will open tomorrow Sunday 30th at 11 o'clock. As a matter of interest, it will also be Pentecost in Greece. The Orthodox Pentecost invariably coincides with a full moon - so watch out for it at night.

We apologise once again for our delay in opening. I feel somewhat embarrassed since we will not be completely ready. However, if we wait for everything in life to be completely ready before we begin something, then we'll never begin anything.

Since we will not be fully prepared tomorrow, only cold drinks will be served, not hot beverages. Thankyou for your kind understanding. We look forward to seeing you soon. Warmest wishes,

Summer 2026

Dear friends, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy summer. I would also like to apologise for my delay in opening this year. I had intended to get everything ready a few days ago - however, due to certain unforeseen difficulties, the preparations have been hindered slightly. I deeply regret not being open yet to serve those friends (old and new) who had wanted to visit Cafe Platanos. I am very sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience that may have been caused. I trust that, nevertheless, everyone enjoyed their stay in our beautiful village.

At the moment, I am trying my best to open as soon as possible. I am optimistic that we should finally be ready 'in a few days' but are reluctant to give an actual date yet. We look forward to seeing you all soon and wish you a wonderful holiday.

Easter Wishes

Dear friends, I had intended to write a much longer message. However, on consideration, I have decided to share just my wishes instead. This year the Orthodox Church in Greece will be celebrating one week later than in the west. My wish for everyone is happiness, good health and hope. Above all, I would like to wish for a lasting peace in the world - a peace that will be secure not with threats but with truth, equality and justice. May the light of Easter dispel the darkness of brutality, hypocrisy and deceit ; and may tolerance, understanding and respect prevail.
