It’s truly overwhelming to see how, in times of need, our community comes together with such kindness and generosity ❤️ From people walking in with supplies to taxis pulling up full of water and essentials — this is humanity at its best. A huge thank you to everyone who brought something to help those affected by the fire 🙏

We have contacted the fire department and they will be coming to collect everything shortly, so there’s no need to bring more supplies for now. Your support means the world. 💙

🚨 URGENT HELP NEEDED – FIRE ON ZAKYNTHOS 🚨

A large wildfire is raging on Zakynthos, spreading from Kiliomenos through Lithakia and Agalas, and threatening the villages of Agalas and Keri. Authorities have evacuated homes and a hotel, and many residents are being moved toward Zakynthos town.    

Fierce winds and extreme heat are fanning the flames, overwhelming firefighting efforts despite the deployment of aerial support, ground teams, and the island’s entire fire brigade.  

Items urgently needed:
💧 Water | 🩹 Gauze | 👁 Eye drops

If you can help, please bring donations to Ellie’s Place restaurant — I will personally deliver everything to the fire station.

Our firefighters are fighting a relentless blaze to protect homes and lives. Every drop of support helps. Let’s stand together for Zakynthos

Greece is experiencing a serious heatwave these days, and while many enjoy their holidays, let’s not forget the people making your summer nights special 🌅

Most restaurant and bar staff start working under the blazing sun from 4 PM, so everything is ready for you to enjoy dinner by 9 or 10 PM. 🌡️ Did you know kitchen temperatures are often 10°C hotter than outside?

So if it’s 40°C out… you do the math.

This isn’t a complaint – it’s just a reminder to be kind, patient, and respectful. A smile, a thank you, and a little understanding go a long way, especially when we’re all melting 🥵

Did you know?
Moussaka — one of Greece’s most iconic dishes — has a fascinating history!

While many think it’s an ancient Greek recipe, the version we know today was actually developed in the 1920s by a Greek chef named Nikolaos Tselementes. He was trained in France and added the famous béchamel sauce to give moussaka its rich, creamy top layer — blending traditional Mediterranean ingredients with French culinary flair.

Before that, versions of moussaka existed across the Balkans and Middle East, often without the béchamel and made with just eggplant and meat.

Next time you enjoy this delicious dish, you’re tasting a piece of Greek culinary evolution 🇬🇷
