October–November 2026 — Arrival of the Migrants
An excellent period to photograph resident species while European migrants begin arriving. Wetlands, forests, rice fields, and coastal habitats offer a wide variety of birding and photography opportunities.
December 2026–February 2027 — Peak Dry Season
Ideal conditions for longer journeys into The Gambia’s inland birding areas. Dry-season conditions provide excellent opportunities to photograph raptors, kingfishers, bee-eaters, waders, and many other species.
March–April 2027 — Migratory Season
A productive period for photographing Palearctic migrants alongside resident West African species before many migrants begin their northward journey.
