ACCOMMODATION
Summeryard is in its very early days. Please check our Accommodation photo album to have a look at our Wooden Hut rooms with one outside shared toilet and shower for 60gh per night for two or 40gh for one. All the rooms have ceiling fans, double beds with a sheet to cover yourself and mosquito nets. We also provide towels
and soap. Our Wooden huts have a good quality mattress for a good nights sleep and a hand basin for a little added comfort. All of the three rooms have a door inside the room which connects to the next room which is a nice option for the family or friends. Our Yard View room is a large spacious room with lounges, a wardrobe, ceiling fan, mosquito net and a private bathroom. This room is 80gh per night for two and 60gh per night for one. All rooms can also have a single or double mattress added for 15gh and 20gh per night. We also offer a space for camping for just 20gh per night. All of our huts are hand crafted. Its materials are 100% sustainable, all sourced from our local region. We offer a mix of traditional and contemporary accommodation whereby you can truly feel at home in Africa, and can live alongside and connect with nature. At Summeryard you can enjoy the natural way of living and feel at peace under a summerhut or in a hammock. Here you can watch and listen to the birds eating from our fruit trees and listen to the waves rolling in. In our Sea View room, you will have the sun rising through your door and on a full moon, you have a perfect seat for its rising. FOOD AND DRINKS
Summeryard believes in appreciating our earth and in showcasing Ghana's finest and freshest produce. As much produce comes from the yard's organic small farm as well as local farms. Summeryard offers a new and inventive vegan menu, influenced by traditional meals as well by love for Ghana's produce. Summeryard offers breakfast, snacks and dinner. Summeryard also offers a range of smoothies, fresh fruit juice options, cocoa and grinded coffee and also fresh herbal teas grown in the yard. We do not sell alcohol at the moment but there are a few bars nearby within a short walking distance where you can go out for a beer, liqueur or wine. Large group orders (over 6 people) can be taken when a booking is made. We offer takeaway and delivery to Winneba town upon requests. As Summeryard is a Vegetarian Cafe and a Vegetarian Yard, we ask that any meat and fish be consumed outside of the Yard. WI FI
For those coming to eat and for those lodging with us, we offer free wi fi. For the meantime you will have to bring your own device! We intend one day to offer a PC for you to use. DRUMMING
Summeryard also offers one hour private drumming lessons for 60gh. Group lessons are possible, however prices will vary depending on the number of people. Please feel free to call or email to book and discuss the price. Drumming lessons cover traditional and modern and african influenced rhythms. MOUNTAIN HIKE
We will arrange with our tour guide, Kofi to take you along the lagoon to start your trek up the mountain (you can see photographs in our "Nearby Winneba" photo album. Its no easy trek but well worth it. Lots of bird watching and beautiful sights to see. You will climb to the top of the mountain, enjoy the view and start your descend to the other side of the mountain where you will make your way to the neighbouring village, Mankwadzie, a quiet piece of heaven. Mankwadzie is a hidden village in the mountains with a stunning scenery and a great beach for swimming. After some relaxing, rehydrating and enjoying some snacks that we provide you will begin the trek back to Winneba. All up, this is a 3-6 hour adventure depending on what your group is most interested in spending there time doing. For single/double tour, this will cost 40gh per person. For a group of over 3 people, the cost will be 30gh per person. CANOE RIDE
We can take you to meet with our friendly and experienced canoe rider, Windy at Sankor (on the west side of Winneba) who will take you along the Ayensu River. For 60gh two people are able to join Windy on a beautiful 2 hour river ride. Its a really relaxing ride where you can have the chance to see crocodiles and alligators lazing, local farming, different plants and all sorts of beautiful singing birds. After a 1 hour dreamy stroll down the river you arrive at Royal Beach on the West side of Winneba. Here you can get out of the canoe, take a walk and see one of the most beautiful beaches in Central Region. Lined with many coconut trees, this beach goes on for miles and you can feel at peace in this secluded get away. We'll also pack you some morning tea to eat whilst your there. After some food and when you've had enough time soaking up the sun and the sand, Windy will take you back on the 1 hour canoe ride to Sankor. We then take you back to Summeryard or your spot in Winneba. TURTLE WATCHING
From November to February each year, the turtles come to lay eggs in the sand. It is during the night you have the chance to see the big sea turtles that pass through. Summeryard is right by the ocean, so you won't have to walk far to go and check them out! BIRD WATCHING AT THE LAGOON
All year round you will see and hear many many birds at our beautiful lagoon nearby. On your request we can take you for a tour to the lagoon and surrounding village, take a look at the scenery and learn the history and tradition of the area. This is the location where the yearly Aboakyer festival (held in May), a long standing tradition is held. It is a very special place to the natives and to anyone who sees it! HANDCRAFTS
Get your customised hand band, necklace and shoes (patchwork) created at Summeryard. You will also find some other local/Summeryard hand made works. At times, orders will need to be made.
