Earlier this year, Art for Guernsey put Β£1,000 from the M&S Community Fund towards a month of free community workshops celebrating 10 years of the gallery, covering everything from charcoal seascapes to seaweed printing in cuttlefish ink.
One of the standout sessions welcomed people living with Alzheimer's to make their own floral paper. "As a charity that is not supported by taxpayers' money, every single donation helps," said David Ummels, Founder and Chairman of Art for Guernsey. "We are particularly grateful that the M&S Community Fund elected to put a focus on community and education, because these two topics are a big part of our strategy."
"The M&S Community Fund exists because we believe business and community are not separate things," said Greg Yeoman, Head of M&S Guernsey. "Seeing the impact Art for Guernsey has made, particularly the work with schools and people living with Alzheimer's, is exactly the kind of outcome we hoped for."
