There is even a hint of the long departed Romans deep in the foundations. "If it were in London it would be mobbed daily"

During the 19th Century and up to the 50's the building served as a small hotel, a bakery and for some time as Stainer's Restaurant. Many Guernsey people will also recall it as a green grocery and general store, then finally as Deane's Coffee House up until Nello arrived in 1978. Head chef and now partner, Tim Vidamour, joined a few years later as did restaurant manager Manuel 'Tex' Teixeria. The rest, as they say has become history too! By using only the finest ingredients together with the healthiest choice of herbs and seasoning the restaurant has moved from strength to strength being recommended by many good food experts along the way. All at Da Nello are proud to be considered one of the most frequented and talked about 'Eating Houses' both in the islands and further afield. Very hard decision but welcome the retirement challenge

After 47 incredible years of serving our wonderful community since 1978, we will be closing our doors on 23rd December as our partners, Tim and Manuel, begin their well-deserved retirement.

This decision hasn’t been easy, but it comes with immense pride and gratitude for everything da nello’s has been over the decades. We want to say a heartfelt thank you to all our loyal customers — generations of families, friends, and visitors who’ve shared meals, celebrations, and memories with us. You have truly made da nello’s what it is.

We hope to see as many of you as possible in our final two weeks, so we can say thank you in person and share a few more memories together.

If you have any da nello’s vouchers, please ensure they are used before 23rd December 2025, as they will not be valid after this date.
