Old chairs — we all have them! In Tbilisi, I think 8 out of 10 homes have at least one. A bit wobbly, scratched, maybe with a broken part or two… so usually, we just throw them away.
But wait — don’t do it!

Most old chairs are actually easy to repair. A little cleaning, some sanding, a few drops of glue, new fabric — and suddenly your chair looks like new! It can perfectly match your home again.
And the best part? You just saved one more thing from ending up in the landfill.

So next time before you throw out your old chair, take a second look.

Would you know what this piece of furniture is called?
It’s a hanging curio cabinet!

When it arrived at our workshop, it looked quite outdated and worn. The client wanted to refresh it without changing its character.

So, we removed the old varnish, treated the wood with oil, and replaced the wooden shelves with glass ones. Just small changes — but they made a big difference!

Modernizing old furniture doesn’t always mean a total transformation. Sometimes, a few simple updates are all it takes.

This beautiful vintage armchair had a sad story — it was standing on Paliashvili Street, right next to a trash bin, forgotten and unwanted.
Luckily, my son walked by and decided it didn’t deserve such an ending.

We spent many hours bringing it back to life — repairing the veneer, rebuilding the seat and back, cleaning, sanding… and with every step, more of its beauty appeared.
Its walnut veneer was treated with Borma Wachs furniture oil, and we chose a rich, elegant velvet from the Linwood collection for the upholstery.
Now it shines again — ready to be the centerpiece of any room!

Restoring an armchair like this one takes many hours. It’s not only about the work itself — it’s also about making many design decisions.
Which fabric will look best? What color should the wood be? How should we place the fabric pattern? And what kind of finishing will complete the look — trim, gimp, decorative nails, or double cording?

Every small choice matters. The wrong one can spoil the whole piece, but the right one can turn it into something truly beautiful.

For this armchair, we chose a fabric from Linwood’s Odyssey Velvets collection. It’s an incredible fabric — soft, elegant, and a joy to work with.

And let me tell you — the final result is stunning.

What do my family and friends do when they see trashed furniture? They call me. This time, it was my son Jan. He saw this poor armchair and couldn’t just walk by, so he and his friend Salome loaded it into the car and brought it to the workshop.

It was badly damaged, but we saw the potential for it to rise like a Phoenix from the ashes. Restoring pieces like this is always long and labor-intensive—and this one was no exception.

Now that I know the final result, I can say it was absolutely worth it. Follow us to see how it turned out!
