There is a moment that happens at Petite Anse almost every week.

It usually takes place on the second or third day.

Someone who arrived saying,

“I can’t sit still for long.”

finds themselves in a hammock.

They tell themselves they’ll stay there for five minutes.

Then they watch a pelican skim across the bay.

A fishing boat drifts by.

The breeze finds its way through the palms.

Before they know it, an hour has quietly disappeared.

Nobody congratulates them.

There isn’t a certificate for slowing down.

There doesn’t need to be.

Because some achievements are measured differently.

Sometimes the best part of a holiday isn’t everything you managed to do.

It’s discovering that, for a little while, you were perfectly happy doing nothing at all.

We rather like that.
