A quick note to let you know that Café No.8 Bistro is taking a short pause this week for annual leave before the busy summer season begins.

We’ll be reopening on Wednesday 1 July, refreshed and ready to welcome you back.

A big thank you to Lynn for choosing to celebrate her 30th anniversary with her partner at our bistro last month.

Special occasions are celebrated here often, including anniversaries, birthdays, and even the occasional marriage proposal.

Despite being a small bistro, we’ve worked hard to create a relaxed, intimate atmosphere where guests can enjoy their time together.

We’ve had lots of new followers recently, so here’s a quick reintroduction 👋

We’re Café No.8 Bistro, an independent, informal fine‑dining spot on Gillygate, run by Chris (in the kitchen) and Martin (Front of House).

A few fun facts about us:
🍷 You can still see the original mosaic tiles from when the building was a health‑food store
🍷 Chris once worked in music and IT before becoming a chef
🍷 We have a hidden walled garden with views of the York walls
🍷 Our big bow window is apparently one of the most photographed features on Gillygate!

We’re open Wednesday-Saturday, 5pm–10pm and Sunday 12noon–4pm, so do come and see us.
