We also provide event catering (inside or out) and planning services to bring the Café No.8 seal of quality to any event. Sourcing high-quality local produce and ingredients is at the heart of what we do, and our chefs avoid complicating matters by letting the quality of the ingredients do the talking. We’re saying a brief farewell to Ian and Jed at the end of September, as they head off to travel throughout South East Asia.

While they’re away, we’ll be tweaking our opening hours to the following:
Friday–Saturday: 5pm–10pm
Sunday: 12noon–4pm

Our usual hours will resume in November, when the lads return. If you have any recommendations on where they should visit during their travels then drop a comment below.

We’re delighted to announce that Café No.8 Bistro has become the latest York restaurant to be added to The Good Food Guide, which has recognised our culinary excellence.

As one of very few York restaurants on the list, our bistro has been celebrated as a “local gem” and highlighted for offering “careful, seasonal cooking from the bistro canon”; for the “front‑row people‑watching from the table in the bow window”, which is an experience in itself; and for being “a great choice for a delicious reboot after a day’s tourism around the city”.

A big thank you to everyone who has helped us achieve this amazing milestone, following recognition from SquareMeal, Olive and Harden’s so far this year.
