Hiiii 🤍 Just checking in because it’s been a whole two months since we last posted!! It feels right to pop back on here with something a little more personal. The last time we showed up on your feed was just after the break-in at our Lendal location.

If I’m honest, that really knocked the wind out of me — especially being the second year in a row. I don’t think I was prepared for how much it would affect me again. We’re still working with the council on getting the door properly fixed. 🫠

January and February are always our quieter months — time to enjoy slower days, space to reset, a chance to freshen things up (Skeldergate is currently turning 🩷 pink 🩷 and I can’t wait to show pictures).

But this year has felt heavier than most. A couple of weeks ago, I also lost my little dog at just five years old, which has completely broken my heart. ❤️‍🩹

There has been some positive news though — the planned Lendal Bridge closure has been postponed until 2027, which is such a relief for us and so many other small independents in York. It’s the kind of thing that quietly makes a big difference.

So this is just me saying hi. We’re still here. We’re still open seven days a week. We’re doing our very best, taking each day as it comes, and holding onto the good bits wherever we can and knowing that spring really is around the corner. 🌷🌞

2026 at SOPHiE already has some exciting things in the works, and I can’t wait to have you along for the journey 🤍 xx

Sadly, our Lendal Bridge location has been broken into for the second time ☹️

This place is my baby — and not just mine. My whole team pours so much love, time & care into looking after it, so to have people try and take that away is so disheartening.

2026 is already shaping up to be a tough year for Lendal, with the bridge set to close for two months after Easter — just as we head into our busiest season, and now starting the year the same way we did in 2025.🥲

Please bear with us if our opening hours vary at Lendal over the next few days while we get back on our feet. Thanks, as always, for the constant support.

A slightly delayed December round-up for SOPHiE … because yes we still don’t know what day it is 🥲🤪☕️

2) Donations towards the Children’s Ward on our Skeldergate Christmas Tree - don’t forget that we collect donations all year round ❤️‍🩹
3) An “if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry” kind of month 🥲🤣
4) Winter sunrises at Lendal Bridge 🌅
5) Skeldergate Bridge doing what it does best … flooding 🤪
6) The first of the snow in York
7) Our final few days with the Christmas lights on - we’ll miss these sparkly evenings ✨✨

The team had a few well-earned days off over Christmas, but we’re now back open every day of the week from 9:30am at Skeldergate & 10am at Lendal. ☕️ January can be a tough month in hospitality, but York never fails to show up for independents - thank you so much for all the support 🖤✨☕️

The SOPHiE team is officially out of office for a few festive days 🎄✨

We’ll be back on Saturday 27th at 10am, ready to welcome you in if you need a little calm away from the Christmas chaos (or just a good caffeine fix) ☕️🤍

I just want to take a moment to say the biggest thank you to every single person who supports us. This year hasn’t been easy — from a break-in at the start of the year which completely knocked me & my confidence to the challenges we’ve faced at Skeldergate with the flooding already this winter — but every time, we’re completely floored by the love and support we receive.

And to my incredible team 🤍 Starting a business at 24, I had no idea what it would truly involve, and I’m still learning every day. You make even the hardest days feel lighter, and I’m endlessly grateful for each of you 🤍 I’ll see you on the 27th before I take a proper little break at the start of January.

The month that Christmas (and floods 🥲) returned to York … and honestly, our lights just keep getting better every year. 🎄✨

3. Christmas cosiness tucked away in the Tower Room

5. Gingerbread cruffins (!!!)
6. Slow, sunrise mornings at Lendal Bridge
7. Post-Saturday glow at Lendal
8. Our river-side terrace during the first floods of the season 🥲

Festive season is in full swing in York. Just over a week to soak up the celebrations, cosy up, and see us before we close! 🎄✨❤️☕️
