🐟🍟 Looking back at the year so far, I cannot fail to mention our brilliant local businesses.
From Kong’s Fish & Chips in Wymondham to businesses right across South Norfolk, so many go above and beyond for their communities.
Kong’s thoroughly deserved my South Norfolk Fish & Chip Award after receiving tonnes of nominations from local residents. I was delighted to present the award on National Fish & Chip Day and, of course, sample the winning food myself!
The haddock, chips and mushy peas were cracking, and the Korean Chicken was quite simply the best I’ve ever had. And yes, I paid for it myself!
What really stood out was how strongly local people backed their favourite independent businesses. That tells you something about the role these businesses play in the communities they serve.
As I look back at the year so far, I’m reminded again that our local businesses are about so much more than what they sell. They create jobs, support local communities and help give our towns and villages their character.
So, whenever you can, please support local. Shop local, eat local and use local businesses. Every pound spent locally can make a real difference.
