🤟 What a fantastic start to our very first British Sign Language Café! 🤟

We were delighted to welcome so many people along on Saturday and were thrilled to see such a friendly, supportive atmosphere from the moment everyone arrived. It was wonderful to watch people chatting, signing, learning from one another, and making new connections.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make our first BSL Café such a success.

We’re delighted to confirm that our next British Sign Language Café will take place on Saturday 8th August 11am to 12pm, and we’d love to see both familiar and new faces there.

No booking required – just come along, grab a drink, and join in!

On Tuesday our Poetry Club met to explore the fascinating world of Cinquain poetry, a unique five-line style created by American poet Adelaide Crapsey. Using the syllable pattern of 2, 4, 6, 8, 2, we discovered just how much can be expressed in just a few carefully chosen words!

As always, our members brought along a wonderful variety of poems and ideas, making for a lively and inspiring discussion.

📚 At our next meeting, we’ll be turning our attention to Sylvia Plath.

Why not come along and join us? You could:
✨ Bring along your favourite Sylvia Plath poem
✨ Write a poem inspired by her style
✨ Create a response to one of her poems
✨ Or simply come along to listen and enjoy the discussion

🤟 NEW! BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE CAFÉ 🤟
We’re excited to be launching our very first British Sign Language Café THIS SATURDAY 13th June from 11am–12pm at The Happy Teapot!

This is a relaxed social meet-up for people who already have some knowledge of BSL and would like the opportunity to practise their signing with others in a friendly and welcoming setting.

Please note that this is not a class, lesson or taught session. There will be no tutor and no formal teaching – just a chance to meet fellow BSL users and learners, build confidence, and enjoy signing together over a cuppa.

Whether you know a handful of signs or have been signing for years, you’re very welcome to come along and join us.

If you care for someone who struggles with their mental health, why not pop along for a chat and a cuppa?

There’s no pressure and no need to stay for the whole session – drop in for 5 minutes or settle in for the morning. It’s a lovely opportunity to meet other carers, share experiences, or simply enjoy some friendly company with people who understand.
