Yes, the weather is atrocious today but we're setting up the games indoors... a bit like wet playtime at school!

Same drinks deal, every drink you buy between 5-7pm get's you an identical free one between 7-9pm....

RETRO & VINTAGE BOARDGAMES - VINYL RECORDS - LOVELY PEOPLE - FRESHLY MADE SNACKS FROM CICELY HOUSE - OPEN PIANO

So... the idea is that Thursday's 5-9pm at Spun is a fun social time for our Spun community, the chance to meet up with friends you know from the weekend Spun dancefloor. (Oooh...Spun Friend!)
We're bringing out the retro games from 's ridiculous collection, we have our regular customer Martin teaching Backgammon to those who'd like to learn, we're playing Connect 4 as if it was Chess.
We've got Cicely House Kitchen & Events baking us fresh snacks each week.
We have resident DJs popping in to play and we're encouraging the 'stick it on ' vibe so if you want to bring a few records to play then do that, we're even opening up the vintage upright piano (& mic) to anyone who wants to knock out a tune.

Those that play together stay together!

And the jewel in the Thursday crown...
We remember when in the 90's you'd go to JBs on a Thursday night and every drink you bought before 9pm got you a raffle ticket for a free one after 9pm... they were the days!
Anyway, we're doing the same with a slightly earlier watershed, so every drink you buy between 5-7pm get's you an identical free one between 7-9pm... no catch.

We had a great 'thing' yesterday with regulars & newbies rocking up to play boardgames out the front and take advantage of the ridiculous Thursday drinks deal.

This weekend kicks off with Live Country Music from Grand Hazards this evening from 7pm. This great six piece band will be playing their original songs alongside the odd cover version... then taking over the decks after to play some of their favourite Country vinyl. Boots and hats advised!

Saturday is monthly Indie Pop & Soul night Chains of Love with DJs Ben Rees & Ben Salter playing melodic Indie classics alongside footstomping Soul belters! 7-11.30pm

Every time there's 5 Sundays in a month, 5 DJs play inappropriate music for a Sunday afternoon in a record shop. This Sunday we have Roh Selector, Our Man in Cairo, Flinders, Uncle Rob & a mystery DJ....oooh??? 2-7pm

Afro, Latin and Funk based grooves mix with elements of Jazz
& other genres to create an evening of soulful & playful innovation.

Disco People returns Saturday with residents Benny Gogz & Liam George joined by special guest DJ Lou Le Groove. Expect underground cuts of Funk & Boogie mixed with singalong Disco belters, always a great vibe at this night!

Sunday afternoon sees the Spun debut for DJ Sly Martini. Sly Martini has been collecting eclectic vinyl grooves for 35 years. A fan of classy production and deep cuts, He'll be scouring his shelves to bring a mixture of some of his favourite Jazz, Soul, Brazilian, 80's Boogie and Disco. 2pm start.

We're properly excited to welcome 'The Stuntmen' to Spun for the first time on Bank Holiday Monday 25th May!
This Rock 'n' Roll, Blues & Country trio will be kicking off at 2ish and
DJ Steve Harvey's Juke Joint will be playing amazing vinyl records in between sets.

Coming up at Spun...

DJ Sura International kicks off the weekend in style on Friday evening with his infectious mix of Afrobeat, Congolese, Highlife & other great African music. A little bit of Amapiano, a touch of Fuji... Sura enjoys sharing the culture & that vibe is transmitted around the room.. Oh... and he's guaranteed to be wearing the best outfit in the place!

Saturday (Eurovision) sees the return of DJs Matt Flinders & Our Man in Cairo, with a special Euro edition of their popular Chunkshop night. They'll be playing the usual upbeat Nu Disco, Dance & Edits interspersed with Random Euro Anthems. I mean this could be anything from Bucks Fizz to Abba... Look Mum No Computer to Johnny Logan...Felix 'Don't you want me' to Spagna 'Call Me'? The only way to find out is to be there!

Rounding off the weekend we have live Jazz with Mike Pappenheim & Friends at 2-4pm Sunday. The weather is usually kind to us for this & the band set up outdoors, however looking at this week we may have to head indoors... It may brighten up, you never know! Either way, we've heard that the incredible Sicilian vocalist Roberta Gulisano will be singing with them... not to be missed!
