MASSIVE DJ ANNOUNCEMENT!
Rich File (U.N.K.L.E / Mo Wax), is playing Spun on Friday 4th September.
Describing his sound as Post, Dance & Disco Punk, Rich will play records by the likes of ESG, Liquid Liquid, Can, Talking Heads, Joy Division, Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem to name but a few.
Here's some of his bio, it makes for an interesting read...
"I partnered James Lavelle in U.N.K.L.E. between 1999 and 2008. Throughout this period I co-wrote and produced songs with many of my musical hero’s including Brian Eno, Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age), Keith Flint (The Prodigy), Ian Brown (The Stone Roses), 3D (Massive Attack) and Ian Astbury (The Cult). I also got to remix some of my favourite bands including Queens Of The Stone Age, DJ Shadow, Depeche Mode, The Prodigy, Metallica, Blur and Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant. Our atmospheric sound lead to many of our songs being licensed in films, tv shows, adverts and video games, and in 1999, in collaboration with the Mo’Wax band South, we wrote the original score for Jonathan Glazer's cult classic, Sexy Beast.
U.N.K.L.E. SOUNDS was the DJ'centric, more playful incarnation of UNKLE. We simply played the music we loved, regardless of it's genre or release date, and if it wasn't made for the club, we just created an edit in the studio that was! We took this project worldwide, playing DJ sets based around the edits, mash-ups and remixes that we'd created. The positive reaction lead to us producing two mix-tapes - Do Androids Dream Of Electric Beats and Edit Music For A Film - showcasing all the work from this period. U.N.K.L.E. SOUNDS culminated in a residency at seminal London night club Fabric, between 2000 and 2003, slap bang in the middle of the club's wonder years!"
