‼️ATTENTION ‼️

Vicarage Road closure Burcott Inn
Following the tree that fell on the Burcott Inn, Vicarage Road by the pub was closed for safety reasons. Yesterday morning, an unknown person moved the barriers and reopened the road Somerset Council Highways have confirmed this was illegal, and Somerset Council Building Control insist the road must remain closed.

Please note: barriers cannot be put back by members of the public. Only an official council representative is permitted to close the road, otherwise we would have done it by now!
We have contacted Somerset Council Highways six times today and been passed to "Priority" each time, with no resolution or response so far.
We're asking for the road to be officially reclosed as a matter of urgency, for everyone's safety.

The other half of the fallen tree has been assessed as unsafe. However, Somerset Council have declined responsibility for making it safe, stating it is not on their land it's understood to be Crown land, but so far no one has taken ownership of the issue.

Please be careful in this area.
We will keep pushing to get this resolved, but progress with the council has been extremely slow, and it feels as though nothing will happen until there's a serious incident.
Thanks for everyone’s support and good wishes.

🚨 Update 🚨

After the craziness of Tuesday morning, we’re pleased to let everyone know that all the necessary safety checks have now been completed, and The Burcott Inn is now back open! 🎉

Our bar is open as normal, and the kitchen will reopen on Saturday to give Kate time to get everything prepared and ready to welcome everyone back.

Although we’re delighted to be reopening, some areas of the building will remain closed while further work is carried out. The men’s toilets and the courtyard will be out of bounds until further notice.

Temporary toilet facilities will be available for our gents while the repairs are being completed. We kindly ask everyone to respect these closures while we continue making the building safe.

We’d like to say a huge thank you once again to everyone for your kindness, patience, and all the lovely messages of support over the last few days. Your words have truly meant so much to us.

We’re incredibly grateful to be able to welcome you all back to The Burcott Inn, and we can’t wait to see you all! ❤️🍻

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for your kindness, support, and well wishes throughout the day. Your messages and offers of help have meant so much to us.

Unfortunately, due to the damage, we will be closing this evening and tomorrow to allow essential safety checks to be carried out and to make sure it’s safe for us to reopen.

We will keep everyone updated and let you know as soon as we’re able to welcome you back.

Thank you again for all your support and understanding. 💚
