🌒 A LITTLE BIT OF VILLAGE MAGIC… 🍺🎶

What an evening at The Wonston Arms. ❤️

First, we all stood together and looked skywards for an extraordinary evening of celestial wonder, watching the eclipse unfold over our little corner of Hampshire.

And then, as the light returned, another kind of evening magic took over…

The Wi******er Morris Men arrived, the lane was closed momentarily, the willow sticks came out, the music started and our customers gathered around to enjoy traditional Morris dancing right outside the pub.

And afterwards? Back onto The Beach at the Wonston for traditional folk songs, a few pints and that wonderful sound of people simply enjoying being together. 🎶🍻

There are evenings when this place feels like so much more than a pub.

A tiny village.
An old country lane.
Morris dancers in the road.
Folk songs around the pub.
Pints in hand.
And an eclipse in the sky above us. 🌒

Proper English village life — alive and kicking at The Best Little Pub in Hampshire. ❤️🍺

Thank you Wi******er Morris Men — and thank you to everyone who made last night one we’ll remember for a very long time.
Your a very bunch of folks x

🐦 Meet the Wonston’s newest pub regular… Baby Noah! ❤️

For the fifth summer running, our resident pigeon parents have chosen the very same little nest above your heads inside the Beach Pergola to raise their family.

This year there was just one chick instead of the usual two, so we’d like you to meet… little Noah. 🥰

While everyone enjoys a pint below, Noah spends his days bobbing around in his nest, watching the world go by from the best seat in the pub.

Now… we know he’s not exactly winning any “Cutest Bird” competitions just yet… 😂 In fact, a couple of our younger visitors were convinced he was a baby eagle! 🦅

Give him a few weeks though… he’ll soon be all grown up and taking his first flight from The Best Little Pub in Hampshire.

Sometimes it’s the smallest stories we enjoy day to day that make a pub feel like home. ❤️🍺

🍺🐾 Just ONE sip, Dad…

Poor Willie. 😄

He spent a good five minutes on Sunday convinced that this beautifully chilled pint of Rothaus Pilsner was definitely intended for him. The concentration… the hope… the puppy-dog eyes… all in pursuit of just one little sip!

Don’t worry everyone – Willie remained on the water bowl while the Rothaus stayed firmly in human hands. ❤️🐶

Who else has a dog that’s absolutely convinced your food and drink belongs to them? 😂

📍The Wonston Arms – where even the pub dog appreciates a quality pint… from a safe distance! 🍻

If you’ve never experienced a Wonston Arms Quiz Night, tonight’s the perfect opportunity!

Join our legendary quizmaster Derek from 7.30pm for an evening of laughs, friendly rivalry, great pub banter and a few brain teasers thrown in for good measure.

What makes our quiz a little different?

❤️ Every player chips in just a couple of pounds, and the winning team chooses which local micro charity receives the entire pot. Over the years, together we’ve raised thousands of pounds for fantastic local causes.

🏆 We also run our famous Wonston Quiz Handicap, where your team’s score is divided by the number of players. It means small teams can compete on a level playing field with the larger ones - so grab one friend or bring the whole gang!

There’s no life-changing prize money…
Just a brilliant Saturday night in The Best Little Pub in Hampshire, with great people, plenty of laughs and the chance to do a little good for our local community.

🎨 The Road Sign Pixie visited Wonston… 🍏

This week we spotted Roger hard at work lovingly restoring Wonston’s beautiful old fingerpost signs by hand, using the traditional skills that keep a little piece of England’s heritage alive.

We couldn’t just drive past…

So once he’d finished for the day, it seemed only right to invite him into The Wonston Arms for a well-earned pint of cider as a small thank you from all of us. 🍺

These old village signs are part of what makes rural England so special, and thanks to people like Roger they’ll continue to point the way for generations to come.

Here’s to the unsung heroes who quietly make our villages that little bit more beautiful.

Thank you, Roger – you’re an absolute superstar. ❤️

Some goodbyes are much harder than others… ❤️

Today, we said farewell to our wonderful Rev Jo.

From the moment you arrived in Wonston, you’ve brought such incredible warmth, energy, kindness and laughter to our little village. It won’t quite be the same without seeing you wander down the lane after Sunday service to join the regular Sunday lunchtime crowd in the pub. Those chats between the church and the pub have become one of those lovely Wonston traditions that make village life so special.

You even introduced us to the famous Vicar’s Shelf… now home to a rather heavenly collection of your favourite gins! 🍸😇 It’s given us all plenty of smiles over the years.

We’ve shared so many special moments together. Joyful weddings, unforgettable wedding celebrations (who could ever forget Tarzan and his fantastic London posse!), christenings welcoming new life, and funerals where we’ve gathered to say goodbye to friends. Through it all, you’ve been there with compassion, humour and a huge heart.

You’ve helped make our church and our pub feel like two parts of the same community, bringing people together in the very best way.

Thank you, Jo, for everything you’ve given to Wonston. Your new parish is incredibly lucky to have you, and we know you’ll bring the same love, laughter and friendship wherever you go.

From all of us at The Wonston Arms – The Best Little Pub in Hampshire… thank you, God bless, and don’t be a stranger. 💕

Keep spreading the love. ❤️
