Lovely pub walks around the dever valley. Pop-up food nights. Huge Lo-no alcohol range. Outside Beach Real Ales and fine wines and 200 Gins are what we are all about here at The Wonston. We are a Free House which means we are free to choose what we serve when we want to serve it, we are not tied or connected to any Brewery who tell is what to do. We listen to our customers and we pride ourselves in our carefully kept cask conditioned real ales. We don't do Food...but on Friday night we have curry night , where you place your order by midday Friday from our menu and its delivered to your table at 7 30pm, by the Gurkha Inn in Winchester. Wednesday Nights Darren from Catch a Fire Pizza pops by the Pub with his wood fired Pizza Oven & serves amazing Pizzas. He also alternates it with his Fish & Chip Van. When you’re just FIVE years old and already one of the most regular little locals at Hampshire’s Best Little Pub, where else would you celebrate your birthday? 🍻❤️

At The Wonston Arms, of course! 🏡

And what better way to toast the big occasion than with a very grown-up glass of light tonic water! 🥂😄

We had the loveliest little birthday get-together with Alistair and his family this weekend. ❤️

There’s something really special about seeing the little ones enjoying the pub just like the grown-ups and learning to behave in a Pub and mix with grown ups — making memories, having fun and being part of our wonderful pub family.

Here is your Full Sunday afternoon lineup. As we continue with our Retro cask ALES from yesteryear ( before the big brewery giants kill them off 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣) it’s time for Courage Best Bitter to make an appearance…

who can remember drinking it where in the 70s and 80s ?

Courage Best Bitter was probably at its peak popularity during the 1970s and early 1980s, when Courage was one of the biggest names in British brewing.
It was a familiar sight in pubs throughout southern England, particularly London, Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex.
The 1970s were especially important because traditional cask bitter was still the everyday drink of choice for millions of pub customers, before l***r became increasingly dominant.
Courage Best Bitter at 4.0% ABV was a classic, easy-drinking session bitter, while Courage Directors was positioned as the stronger, more premium b**r.
An interesting bit of history: Courage Best was originally brewed at the Anchor Brewery in Bermondsey until its closure in 1981. A 1979 CAMRA publication described it as a pleasantly hopped, traditional bitter. 
By 1982, John Smith's had overtaken it as Courage's biggest-selling brand.

We went outside , big relief clear skies !
Grabbed a set of step ladders and a can of b**r to rest our phone against , made a makeshift steady spot to rest my iPhone and set it to night mode
Long exposure and Bingo , the aurora was there .
Amazing to see again
