🚁 Another fantastic collection for Midlands Air Ambulance! ❤️

Today we welcomed Robin from Midlands Air Ambulance to collect another amazing amount of donations from our donation station.

Robin spent some time chatting with us about how the money raised through both the collection tins and our donation station helps to support the vital, lifesaving work they do.

Thanks to the generosity of our residents, staff, families and visitors, our donation station has now been emptied twice in just the last few weeks! 👏

We were amazed to learn that each black bag of donations raises an average of around £15 for the charity.

Today alone, Robin collected an incredible 21 bags – worth approximately £350! 🤩

A huge thank you to everyone who continues to donate. It just goes to show how unwanted items can be turned into something that makes a real difference. 💙

Keep those donations coming! 🚁🙌

📚 A huge thank you to Salisbury Poultry! 📚

We’ve been absolutely blown away by the generosity of the team at Salisbury Poultry, who have kindly donated an amazing 90 books to help stock our resident library! 📖❤️

As if that wasn’t enough, they are also sponsoring one of the awards at our upcoming awards ceremony 🏆✨

It’s fantastic to have the support of local businesses who genuinely want to get involved and make a difference to our residents and community.

A massive thank you to everyone at Salisbury Poultry for your continued support and generosity – we really do appreciate it! 💙

What a fantastic way to round off a brilliant week celebrating everything Black Country! 🖤💛

We finished the week in style with a game of bowls, some lovely grub and a fantastic singer to keep us entertained! 🎶☀️

Even the heatwave couldn’t stop our residents (or staff!) from getting up and having a dance. 💃🕺 There were definitely some questionable moves from the team and the Chicken Factory guys… but we’ll say no more about those! 😂😂

A HUGE thank you to the team for pulling together in this heat and absolutely pulling it out of the bag to make today such a great one for our residents. ❤️👏

And a massive thank you to The Chicken Factory and Jennings Funeral Directors for volunteering their time and coming along to support us today. It really is appreciated. ❤️

A brilliant end to a brilliant week — plenty of smiles, laughter, dancing and Black Country spirit! 🖤💛

🛶 Making memories along the way! 💜

What a lovely evening for our Land’s End to John O’Groats Challengers, who swapped walking miles for canal miles and enjoyed a well-deserved three-hour cruise as they edge ever closer to the end of their fabulous challenge.

With beautiful scenery, fish and chips halfway along 🐟🍟 and even a few kingfishers making an appearance, it was a wonderful opportunity to relax, enjoy each other’s company and reflect on just how far everyone has come.

And the kindness continued along the way! 💜 Brenda couldn’t resist a spot of blackberry picking from the hedgerows, collecting some especially for Pat — another lovely little random act of kindness that made us smile.

It’s moments like these — sharing experiences, looking out for one another and having plenty of fun along the way — that make this challenge so special.

The finish line is getting closer… but there are still more memories to be made! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️👏

At Housing 21, we’re always striving to make our services as inclusive as possible.

Recently, I completed a tenancy sign-up with a new resident who has been deaf since the age of 8. Her son, who has been deaf since he was 4 years old, supports her, and meeting them made me stop and reflect.

I like to think I’m an inclusive person, but I realised I wasn’t as prepared as I wanted to be. The BSL I’d learnt years ago had long since disappeared from my memory (thank you, perimenopause! 😊).

So, I’ve decided to do something about it. I’ve found a fantastic FREE British Sign Language course on the Alison app, and I’m dedicating around three hours of my own time each week to re-learn BSL.

It’s a slow process, but one I’m genuinely excited about. Even better, my resident and her son have very kindly agreed to let me practise new signs with them, helping me build my confidence and making sure I’m signing correctly.

Inclusivity isn’t about getting everything right the first time—it’s about recognising where we can do better, being willing to learn, and taking those small steps that can make a big difference to the people we support.

Here’s to learning, growing, and creating communities where everyone feels seen, heard, and included. 💙

☀️ Sunshine & Kindness at Bushfield Court 💛

Our new “Sunshine & Kindness” notice board is all about bringing smiles, sparking conversations, and helping residents connect in a fun and meaningful way.

Residents can choose a summer-themed cut-out that makes them smile – whether it’s flowers, holidays, BBQs, ice cream, birds singing, or spending time with grandchildren and friends – and add it to our sunshine display. They can also take a colourful heart, write a kind message for another resident or member of staff, and add it to our kindness board.

It’s a simple activity, but it creates wonderful opportunities for residents to connect with people they may not usually speak to, share a little positivity, and brighten someone else’s day.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness make the biggest difference. 🌼💙

💙 Walking Together for a Cause Close to Our Hearts 💙

A team of colleagues from Housing 21 will be coming together to take part in the Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk to help raise vital funds for those living with dementia and to support the families and loved ones affected by it.

This is a cause that means so much to all of us. Many of us have seen first-hand the impact that dementia can have, both personally and through the people we support every day. Taking part in the Memory Walk is our way of making a difference and showing our support.

If you're able to donate, no matter how big or small, we would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution helps Alzheimer's Society continue its amazing work, funding life-changing support and groundbreaking research.

💙 Please support our team by donating here:

Thank you for your kindness, generosity and support. Together, we can help create a better future for everyone affected by dementia. 💙

What a fantastic day we had at our Bushfield Court Summer Fête yesterday! ☀️🌻

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the day so special – our wonderful residents, their families and friends, our fantastic stall holders, our amazing volunteers, our ever-entertaining vicar (always a pleasure!), and of course our incredible teams from Housing 21 and Advanced Health Care. Your hard work, dedication and willingness to go above and beyond for our residents never goes unnoticed.

It was wonderful to see members of our local community come together to enjoy the day, while also helping to raise funds that will go towards activities and experiences for our residents.

We were also delighted to welcome back Lil, one of our former residents. It was so lovely to spend time reminiscing and catching up – moments like these remind us that Bushfield Court will always be a place people can call home.

This year’s fête theme was Scarecrows, and our residents and Day Centre service users certainly didn’t disappoint! A huge well done to everyone involved in creating our wonderful feathered “security team” – they were full of character and brought plenty of smiles throughout the day. 🌾👨‍🌾

Thank you again to everyone who helped make the day such a success. We can’t wait to do it all again next year! 💙
