When Fatemeh arrived from Iran at just 18 years old, to look after her mom after major surgery. She spoke very little English and had almost no confidence in herself.
Fatemeh didn’t know what her future would look like.
She started with us in the kitchen, washing dishes. It may have seemed like a small beginning, but for her, it was the beginning of something much bigger.
We watched her grow.
Fatemeh started talking more. Smiling more. Believing in herself a little more each day.
We gave her the opportunity to learn, and she grabbed it with both hands. Fatemeh trained as a barista, developed her skills, and then went one step further — she taught herself latte art. ☕️
Today, she can stand proudly behind a coffee machine, create beautiful coffee and, most importantly, believe in what she is capable of.
And then came a moment that brought tears to our eyes…
She received her very first pay cheque. 💷❤️
Not just a pay cheque.
It represents independence.
It represents confidence.
It represents possibility.
It represents how far she has come.
From an 18-year-old girl who arrived with little English and little confidence, to a young woman earning her own money and building her own future.
We are incredibly proud of Fatemeh.
This is why social enterprises matter.
Because sometimes changing someone’s life doesn’t start with a huge opportunity.
Sometimes it starts with simply saying:
“Come in. We’ll give you a chance.”
And look what can happen when someone gets that chance. 🌱☕️❤️
