The new Queens Head features a cosy drinking area with newly-refurbished dining areas and 10 comfortable en-suite guest bedrooms providing the perfect base for guests to Cumbria and, of course, their four legged companions. Renowned for serving some of the finest food in the area, The Queens Head’s new menu will highlight a mixture of homely classic pub food with a Cumbrian flair. New Year’s Eve at the Queen’s Head 🎉

See in 2027 at the foot of the Kirkstone Pass, with fires lit, a full table and live music until midnight.

Here’s how the night runs:
• 7pm: doors open, with a glass of fizz on arrival
• 7:30pm: a buffet-style meal served to your table
• From 9pm: live band
• Later in the evening: cheese and biscuits for everyone
• 12:30am: last orders, after we’ve seen in the New Year
• 1am: carriages

Your table is yours for the whole evening, so there’s no rush.

How to book:
Bookings are by phone only on 01539 432 404. A £50 payment secures your table, and we’ll post your tickets out to you. If you’re staying with us, your tickets will be waiting in your room. Please bring your tickets with you on the night.

Please note: on New Year’s Eve, the pub closes at 4:30pm so we can get ready for the evening. The last daytime table booking is at 2:45pm.

Did you know every bedroom at the Queen’s Head is named after a Lakeland fell?

Each one has an image of its fell on the wall, which is either great inspiration for the next day’s walk or a nice thing to look at from bed. Our ten rooms include doubles and deluxe kings, some can be made up as twins, and there’s an outdoor dog shower for muddy companions.

We’re at the foot of the Kirkstone Pass, a few minutes up from Windermere, with fells in every direction.

If you’re setting off from Troutbeck, make the Queen’s Head your starting point. Our breakfast is open to non-residents.. the perfect way to fuel up before a day exploring the Lakes.

Cooked breakfast, hot coffee and a warm welcome before you head out.

A few of the things that make the Queen’s Head the Queen’s Head.

The Mayor’s Chair is a magnificent carved oak throne, and the village’s Mayor of the Hunt tradition is tied to the pub.

Then there are the flying ducks, the fish, rooms named after Lakeland fells, and a dog shower outside for anyone who’s found every puddle between here and the Kirkstone Pass.

Our rooms at the Queen's Head in Troutbeck are made for autumn. Spend the day out walking the valley, then come back to a warm room, a hearty dinner downstairs and the kind of quiet you only really get in the Lakes. The evenings are drawing in round here, the valley's starting to turn, and there's a new autumn menu on at the Queen's Head.
