Behind every bottle is a story — and last week, in the glorious baking sunshine, we had the pleasure of seeing where this one begins.

Our team visited the beautiful Louis Pommery vineyard in Alresford, home to exceptional English sparkling wine and a wonderful local supplier we’re proud to work with.

With the vines soaking up the summer heat and the grapes ripening in the sun, it was the perfect day to learn more about the care, patience and skill behind every bottle.

Made using traditional sparkling wine methods, Louis Pommery’s wines feel every bit as special as the setting they come from — and we’re delighted to serve them here at The King’s Head.

A beautiful review for The King’s Head at Hursley. ✨

“Why visit the Kings Head at Hursley?

Hursley is a small and quintessentially English village, its houses here (mainly of red brick) date from the late 1400s to the present day. Many of their roofs are embellished by tall and striking twisted chimneys, hence the area is known as the Village of Chimneys.

The pub is close to Wi******er, seat of King Alfred the Great, close to Romsey Abbey and not far from Salisbury and its cathedral with its mighty 404ft spire. Wow!

As to the pub you’ll be given a warm welcome by all of the staff. You can eat in the bar or in the dining room, but which ever you choose the food is superb, both in taste and presentation.

Last but not least there’s a good choice of wines and real ales.

Do visit. I’ve now been twice and am hoping to go again very soon. I feel so at home there.”

Warm welcomes, beautiful surroundings, superb food and that feeling of being completely at home — exactly what a great country pub should be.
