It was such an honour to present Memories & Munch cookbooks to our cohort from Eastleigh Age Concern last week. The Memories & Munch cookbooks are personal for each cohort, containing participant’s food memories and special recipes, together with ideas for communal celebratory events and Munch recipes, which are healthy hacks on classic dishes - such as lentil & lamb shepherds’ pie and low sugar apple pie.

This project celebrates different food cultures, food memories, life stories and social history. It is a collaboration with and was kindly funded by

We’ve been enjoying working with RHL Aldershot for our latest Memories & Munch project. Participants tried new foods and gathered tips on healthy eating for disease prevention in later life. We talked about focusing on lowering processed foods and red meat, and the benefits of a high fibre diet to lower the risks of bowel and colon cancer. We demonstrated how to make a 50/50 bolognaise then enjoyed lunch together, sharing low salt, low sugar, high fibre recipes.

We enjoyed working with some amazing young people through half term, helping them learn essential and the benefits of cooking from scratch. Our resident chef also led discussions around the different career pathways in food.
