June 20th 1975 Steven Spielberg's "Jaws" splashed onto our cinema screens and never really left. It single-handedly invented the cinema summer blockbuster, and while it cost a paltry $9 million it grossed a record-breaking $490 million dollars worldwide, until "Star Wars" surpassed even that. Everybody knows the plot and what happens in the end (if you don't then nip down to Blockbuster and rent it) but spare a thought for the poor sharks in our oceans. The "Jaws effect" popularised the myth that sharks are ruthless man-eaters, which sparked waves of trophy hunting and vindictive fishing expeditions. This relentless culling contributed to a staggering decline in global shark populations. Sharks don't want to eat humans but an estimated 80 million sharks are killed by commercial fisheries every year. Poor sharks. Our pizzas are shark-free, thin crust, made with fresh, high quality ingredients and cooked in a wood-fired oven. Tip top and tasty.
