We are absolutely devastated to hear that our favourite chippy in Wigan The Trawlerman Fish & Chips WIGAN has suffered a big fire whilst they were working on Good Friday, meaning that they will lose business until the shop is back up and running. From looking at the photos on their recent post, this looks like it might take a while! 😔

Steve, Gemma and their customers weren’t hurt in the incident thank god, but they will have some tough times ahead as the shop is their livelihood and means everything to them!

Not only that, but the shop means the world to their local community and also reaches wider than their community now thanks to people from surrounding areas such as ourselves finding them from their brilliant social media and excellent food reviews which they have always prided themselves on.

These absolutely brilliant people deserve us and the community to come together now for them to help them get back on their feet as soon as possible, because they were always there for us and always delivered!

We are obviously in America at the moment but will be offering help to them in any way we possibly can! We will be sharing posts and raising awareness of this situation for them and would appreciate it if others could too.

Once they’re back on their feet, we will of course be among the first customers in to get our much needed smack barm, pey wet, baby’s yed, fish and chips and pie barm fix, which is spot on every time! 🤤😍

We are absolutely devastated, still in disbelief and shock. On the busiest day of the year for us, Good Friday, we had a devastating Fire. At 5.10pm the shop was full of customers and queuing out the door, firstly a burning smell was noticed and then straight away I saw the then small flames under the range. Firstly and more importantly we got everybody out safely and called the fire brigade. In less than a minute the shop was engulfed with smoke and flames. The amazing firefighters were there in no time but for us standing and watching the smoke and flames it felt like eternity 😢. Even the sound of cracks and burning, absolutely gutting, all the extra stock and preparation and hard work that had gone in to the busiest day for us, standing there in tears in utter disbelief. We know there are a couple of customers who had just paid and were getting served but had to leave without their food, we have you on camera, please get in touch as we want to get your money back to you! Apologies to all our lovely customers. We are just very very grateful that no one was hurt. We want to concentrate now on getting the Chippy back up and running. We know this will take time but we want to do it as quickly as possible, for many reasons, it’s our livelihood, our amazing team rely on their jobs and income, we are part of the community, for some it’s the only bit of socialising they have. A massive thank you to our team for staying with us that night and being so supportive ❤️. The firefighters, you were all amazing, the job you did, the support and guidance, you all had a heart of gold 🧡. We will keep you updated on the journey to get us back up and serving our lovely customers, we hope you will all come back to us. Lots of Love 🥰
