Open as usual! ☕📚

Widnes is being transformed, and while the works on Albert Road continue, we’re here to remind everyone that The Gingerbread Tea House is still open.

We’re still serving freshly prepared breakfasts and lunches, along with tea, coffee and more. 🍳🥪🫖

We’re also still accepting book donations, and we’re here whenever you’re ready to find your next great read. 📖✨

As a small independent business, your support really does make all the difference — especially when the going gets a little tougher.

Open as usual!

I would like to thank everyone for their patience and well wishes yesterday.

It's hard being a single parent to a 9 year old whilst also running a business. It is incredibly rare for me to close for a day, but Melissa needed me and my first responsibility is to her.

I apologise to all those whose breakfast and lunch plans were altered as a result of yesterday's closure.

We are back open today at 9am.

Closed today.

I'm so sorry to let people down, but I have to close today.

My daughter Melissa isn't well and I don't have anyone to take care of her. Normally she would come with me during the holidays.

I will do everything i can to ensure we're back open tomorrow and Saturday.

I hope you all understand.

We have had a few days away for the bank holiday weekend, but we will be back open tomorrow serving our usual menu.

I hope you're all staying cool during the heat wave... thank goodness we have air conditioning at The Gingerbread Tea House!

Progress update!

Most of the stone for the block to be laid on has now been laid.

There is progress on the block paving... as I'm sure you'll agree, it looks great!

The coming weekend is going to be a scorcher 🥵🌡

We are open on Friday and Saturday as normal, but will be closed on Sunday, Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday... back open on Wednesday to serve all of our delicious treats!!

If your kids are on holiday, why not bring them in for pancakes and shakes?

😱 it's taking shape!

The workmen are out working hard this morning.

Most of the stone that will form the bed for the block paving has been laid, next comes sand and the rest of the blocks.

I'm hoping the blocks are fully laid by the end of next week.

Once all the blocks in the centre are down, secured and safe to walk on, things will start to open up again. The central section will be opened to pedestrians and the current paved area will be lifted.

Access to all businesses will remain during this period.
