Dear Wickford,

We have noticed a growing number of people walking the streets hungry.

Over the past few weeks, several individuals have come into our shop, asking for food. At Pink Garlic Wickford, we could never let someone leave empty-handed. Hunger is a pain only truly understood by the person experiencing it — when the body weakens, the mind struggles, and even basic strength begins to fade.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while the neighbour to his side goes hungry.”
— Hadith (Al-Adab Al-Mufrad)

Jesus Christ said:

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.”
— Matthew 25:35

We are not a food distribution centre, but we care deeply about the suffering of others and will always try to help where we can.

So, we kindly ask our community: if you see anyone in or around Wickford who may be struggling with hunger, please direct them to us.
