Just a quick heads up for those who have not seen our posters at The Bears, we will be closed this weekend (6th & 7th June). It’s been a crazy few months and we haven’t had a break since last year, we are fast approaching our 10th anniversary of The Bears Trading Company, yes 10 years in , so we are grabbing an opportunity to give the whole team a quick break before summer starts (this is a reminder to Mother Nature that it’s supposed to be summer)! Have a fabulous weekend and if you are going to Pride in Canterbury, spread the love.

Thank you for your support yesterday, it was really appreciated and we was sorry that we had to turn a few people away but it was crazy sadly due to the problems in Whitstable.

We’ve been told that Whitstable businesses in the town centre and Harbour areas once again have water so please support them too, they’ve lost trade this week which is of no fault of their own, it’s shameful really that it’s 2026 and our water supply is interrupted. Hopefully, those in power will be able to put pressure on them to retain our pressure - see what I did there…! 💦

Anyway, have a fabulous weekend all, we are here from 10 this morning, oh and you might hear Big Bear on BBC Radio Kent just after 10am, yep he’s doing what he does best and having a moan…which is why we keep him locked away in the kitchen 😂😂😂
Oh, and have you seen our new window displays…..our homage to the Chelsea flower show, there’s gnomes!!!

Don’t mean to brag and it’s not us being flippant but we have water! There is always a second but, obviously due to Southeast Waters useless ability to supply water, you know that thing which is most abundant on the planet, we don’t seem to have many customers this morning…!!!

All of your local independent businesses need your continued support and we love you for it.

It’s Sunday…! Time for cake and cake with a side of cake and maybe a bit of cake to go.

Despite the showers it’s a lovely day in Tankerton as we have cake!

It’s also Whitstable Artists and Makers Trail this weekend and we have three amazing local artists in Tankerton who have their studios open for you to visit today, you could take them a slice of cake - yes of course we do take away!

Lisa McKean Jewellery and Duncan McKean Designs can be found in their studios in Bennells Avenue and Meg Wroe who is at her seafront beach hut 129 Tankerton East with stunning views across the estuary, please pop along and support them (with cake)!

Anyway time to do some prep work now and make some more cakes, did I mention we make and sell cakes?

P.S. the gardens been open this week and customers having been enjoying a slice of cake out there listening to the birds while eating their cake.

Don’t look now but we think it’s stopped raining - just as we were about to finish building our Ark!

It’s Sunday, time for a wonderful treat to set you up for the new week ahead, Sunday Roasts are available from midday along with our full menu and other specials on the board. Lots of naughty homemade cakes just waiting to be devoured (calorie free if eaten on the premises - this may not be true!🤣)
