Dear Customers and Friends
I am absolutely devastated to share the news that effective immediately, 909 will cease to operate. We tried so hard to build a great proposition to give memorable experiences, great food, awesome cocktails and friendly service from our amazing team. But operating in this economic climate is impossible. We may have been able to keep going longer had our first 2 years or more of trading not been hampered by pandemic restrictions, but with the position we are in now, and such a challenging outlook ahead, I have no choice but to take this extremely difficult decision.
I want to thank Whitchurch for all the support we have had over that time. It has been an amazing time, getting to know so many wonderful people. I hope we have given you some good times to remember us by.
I learned a lot through this journey but 2 things really stand out for me:
- support independent traders. Our world is full of generic rubbish yet there are many businesses, like ours, trying to do something different, while offering great value. Support them – peoples lives and dreams depend on it.
- Be nice to restaurant staff, no matter what is going on in your world. I have been too often surprised by how people are prepared to treat hospitality staff over the smallest of matters. Its not necessary and it reflects on you, not the business you are dissatisfied with. These wonderful people who work unsociable hours to deliver service deserve respect as much as any other human. So next time you feel like losing your mind with a waitress or bartender, imagine that’s your sister, brother, cousin, and treat them appropriately. You came for a good time after all….
Thank you Whitchurch. I am so grateful for the welcome you gave me and the business to set up in your fascinating town. I hope something even more amazing replaces us.
