The Black Horse The Black Horse is a tiny, traditional, two bar pub in the heart of Whitby's old town. We are too small to accommodate groups, or dog pushchairs unless folded.

We offer a great selection of drinks, which perfectly complement our Yapas (Yorkshire tapas) menu, food is served daily from 12 - 9pm. We have 4 en-suite letting rooms which are pet free, but offer a self catering apartment which sleeps 2 and up to 2 dogs. Dogs are welcome in both bar areas, however from 1st September, WE WON'T ALLOW UNDER 18'S IN THE PUB. If you're looking for a relaxed, small venue for a wedding, we are licenced. For those of you who missed out last week, the Whitby Tuna poke will be back on the menu tomorrow. We have a limited number of portions, which will be available from 12 noon tomorrow, and possibly again on Sunday unless we sell out.

This is an opportunity to try the first tuna landed in Whitby in around 90 years! It will be paired with other local ingredients produced by businesses we have the pleasure of working alongside

Yesterday morning, Whitby’s iconic whale bone arch was removed in readiness for its bronze replacement being installed next year. It’s strange to see the view without the famous land mark which nods to the towns whaling heritage 🐳

Whitby was also famed for its tuna, which until the last few weeks hasn’t been landed here for around 90 years. Tomorrow we will introduce to our menu some of the tuna recently landed in Whitby. It will be served as a poke, using locally sourced ingredients, and in our yapas style 🐟🐟🐟
