🚨 Kitchen Porter Wanted – Immediate Start! 🚨

We're looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team with an immediate start.

📍 Hours: 30–35 hours per week (hours may vary to suit the needs of the business)

Key responsibilities include:
✅ Pot wash and keeping the kitchen clean and organised
✅ Deep cleaning of the kitchen
✅ Maintaining outdoor areas, including the service yard and storage areas
✅ Supporting the kitchen team to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained at all times

What we're looking for:

A strong work ethic and a positive attitude
Ability to work well as part of a team
Good attention to detail
Reliability and punctuality
Previous experience is helpful but not essential as full training can be provided

Important: Applicants must be regularly available on Sunday afternoon/evening to take part in the weekly kitchen deep clean alongside other team members.

Sound check. Celebrating one our regulars special birthday this evening from 6pm.

We have got the game on later as well. We’ll have it on with commentary on all the indoor screens. We’ve got music on outside and we’re not sure on kick off time yet so we’ll play it by ear with the outdoor screen.

It’s starting to get serious now. Win this one and then it’s the winner of Brazil v Norway in the quarter final.

We are showing the game live, but the outdoor screens won’t be turned on, we’ve got 5 indoors though. We will have a great atmosphere inside without disturbing the neighbours that way. If you are joining us, can you also please leave quietly afterwards when making your way home.

We’ll have some snack plates and stuff going round during the game, and you can consider it dinner tea or breakfast, whichever you prefer 🙄

The inaugural Hartley Hoedown is on this Saturday following the Carnival in the village on Marston Road.

We’ve got two amazing acts with Kinda Country starting at 4pm and we’ve sandwiched a line dancing class in the middle from 6pm-7pm before Kev Ruby-Astin Music ting xx so bring your dancing shoes/boots.

Festival food menu with burgers/pizzas/chilli dogs etc, starting at 4pm with the music. Cocktail specials. It’s all going on.

There’s a worrying trend that we’re going to do our best to help eradicate. Please don’t queue single file at the bar!

We Brits spend enough of our lives in queues. The pub is supposed to be our sanctuary.

A few pointers for anyone that may need them:

🕴️Find a gap at the bar and stand there.
👀 Clock who’s beside you and silently agree who was there first.
🤝 If there’s ever any doubt, don’t worry, the rest of the bar will somehow know exactly who’s next.
💷 Resist the urge to wave a £20 note or shout “Mate!” It won’t get you served any faster.
🍻 Have an idea of what you’re ordering before your time comes. Your fellow drinkers will silently thank you.
🍺 And finally… please please please, don’t order the Guinness last.

Let’s keep the pub one of the few places where organised chaos still works perfectly. Cheers! 🍺🇬🇧

We’ve been a bit quiet recently … sorry! We’ve had a really busy few weeks 😉 so here’s a quick catch-up…

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who came along to Cider & Suds. It means a great deal that so many of you come out and support our events. We honestly couldn’t do it without you. We’re tweaking next years event slightly with good feedback following this one.

The World Cup is well underway now and we’re back at it again tonight from 10pm. Same great atmosphere as before! We’ve given the outside area a little spruce up and, more importantly, we’ve sorted the slight sound issue from the last game. Sorry about that!

Last night we quietly soft-launched our new menu. We didn’t make a big announcement because we already had a packed booking list, but it’s now officially available! Our new lunch menu will be following shortly too. The Fish Pie was an instant hit last night… and if we do say so ourselves, it’s absolutely delicious.

Looking ahead, The Hartley Hoedown is next Saturday! 🤠 Live country music from 4pm with Kinda Country, followed by Kev Ruby-Astin Music ting xx, a themed menu and plenty of other bits and pieces to get involved with throughout the day. Cowboy and Cowgirl attire is very much encouraged!

We’ll try to be a little better with the updates from now on… 😉

Game 2! England v Ghana this evening at 9pm.

We’ve kept hold of the outside bar until tomorrow morning so we’ve got a great offer on. All of the remaining cask ales on the outside bar will £3 a pint from 6pm. When they’re gone they’re gone! We can do cash on the outside bar as well as tokens now

We’ve got beers from 52 Brewing, Green Duck, Three Tuns, Enville and more. The game is on inside and out, the weathers looking great again and cheap beer. Not a bad Tuesday evening …
