Cafe Autisan

We are very sad to be sharing the news that Cafe Autisan will close on 23 August 2024.

We are incredibly grateful for everyone’s support throughout the years, and we want you to know that this decision was not taken lightly. The café has been running at a significant financial loss for some time, and sadly it is no longer viable to keep the business going.

We are proud of everything the café has achieved in the last 10 years and have loved being part of the Whalley community. We want to thank our customers, volunteers and staff for everything they have contributed during this time.

Good morning all,

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we're afraid we won't be able to open today, nor over the weekend - we apologise for the inconvenience, and for any disruption it causes to our regulars and the hungry walkers in the area.

We will be open again on Monday as
standard, however, and we look forwards to seeing you all then.

We're closing a little earlier today, at 11:30am, in order to host an event for the National Autistic Society - so let's make the most of this beautiful morning!

We hope you all had a wonderful World Autism Acceptance Week!

It's important to recognise and celebrate the Autistic people in our lives, as well as recognising the challenges they might face and how far we still need to go to make this a world that works for Autistic people.

For example, did you know that:
- Only 26% of Autistic pupils feel happy in school?
- Only 29% of Autistic people are in *any* form of employment?
- 70% of Autistic people experience mental heath problems?
- That there are currently over 150,000 people in the UK still waiting to be assessed?

With this in mind, it's important that we revel in our wins - and that we accept and celebrate the autistic community the world over. We celebrated World Autism Acceptance Week with a Northern Bake-Off! Congratulations to our 1st prize winners, and their marvellous rainbow "AAW" cake!

We won't be operating today, as we're going to be hosting a Christmas party for the people we're privileged enough to support. However, we will return to our conventional service tomorrow!
