Last week was one of those weeks where we barely stopped.
Every day seemed to go from opening straight through to closing, followed by evenings baking ready to do it all again the next day. We even had lots of social media posts planned… but by the time I sat down in the evening I was usually falling asleep!
So before anything else, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who visited Tea on the Green last week. Whether you popped in for a cream tea, cake, breakfast, lunch or just a quick cuppa, we really do appreciate every single one of you.
While all that was going on, we also had some very special visitors in our garden.
A pair of robins decided to build their nest inside one of our old teapots.
We watched mum and dad feeding the babies for weeks and were ridiculously invested in their progress (rather like worried grandparents!). Especially when one of the grandsons knocked into the basket of teapots and knocked it off, hence the reason it’s propped up with paint cans😬
The babies have now fledged and left the nest, which is wonderful… although we’re a little sad to see the teapot empty.
Then this little one appeared on the drive and hopped right past me as if it owned the place. The second photo shows just how tiny it is — that’s a 5 litre mayonnaise tub beside it for scale!
Perhaps they chose a teapot because they knew they were living behind a tearoom! And we’re hoping the whole family is now safely settled in the tree next door.
Thank you again for keeping us so busy last week and we’re back open at 11am on Wednesday.
Ali, Mark, Charley and the Tea on the Green team ❤️
