Handed the keys back today, looks very empty. One month retirement then see what happens next! The premises has reverted back to the landlord and will reopen again from August as a café.

This is a very long post 🤦🏼 Rowan Tree Tea Room has now permanently closed its doors after nearly 20 years!

Starting back in 2007 with just a kettle and some bought-in muffins, I never imagined the journey it would become. Closing has been an incredibly difficult decision but with the current financial climate, it is the right time.

It was a very difficult day yesterday but I was so pleased with the support from all my loyal customers, it was great to see so many of you and have lots of good luck cards. I want to say a huge thank you to every customer who has supported the tea room over the years — especially through the challenges of Covid and our move from the Quarry to The Stable. Your loyalty, kindness & continued support was very much appreciated.

To Jane & Nigel for coming in most days for breakfast and a chat. To Lynn, Kay & friends — thank you for being such loyal customers & supporters over so many years.

A special thank you to Jemma & Simon for all of your help during the transition to The Stable

To my current team — Rebecca (with her wonderful baking for the past 14 years), Odette (with her friendly attitude & popularity serving customers for the past 12 years) Finley (5 years serving and helping in the kitchen) & Kay (thank you for taking on the coffees) Aileen (thank you for all the volunteering you have done over the years, you have become a favourite with all the customers very valued member of our team)

Thanking all of you for your dedication & support. Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to work with so many wonderful people!!!!

Although the tea room has closed, there is something new to look forward to ✨

I have a studio in The Old Town Quarry, Unit 8, where Aileen will be making & selling jewellery plus running jewellery classes. Thursday to Saturday, 11am–3pm, from the beginning of August & we’d love to see lots of familiar faces! 🙂

As for me — I’m hoping to stay in catering… just this time working for somebody else!

Thank you all again for your support, kindness, friendships & memories over the years. Rowen Tree Tea Room has been such a large special part of my life & I’ll always be grateful to everyone who walked through the door.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my current staff, especially Rebecca whose wonderful baking 🍰🧁🥪 for the past 14 years has helped bring the business to where it is now! & Odette, whose hard work and friendly attitude has been much appreciated. They both helped immensely after the difficult time of the Quarry closing, then helping run the café at The Stable. The end of this month is going to be a difficult time for all of us! David

Closing. Our last day of trading will be Saturday 27th June. Until then we will be open our usual hours Wednesday to Saturday. Due to the current financial climate it is now time to close, at least this time I get to choose when. It has been a fantastic journey for nearly 20 years, hoping to see lots of our customers in these last few weeks. David & team.
