🎨 Now Showing at Marine Place Café! 🧵📸
Our new gallery space has been buzzing since early 2025, showcasing the amazing creativity of local artists, photographers and makers who meet here at the café. Inspired by the late Jim Fleming, whose weekly art sessions brought so much fun, we’ve already hosted three wonderful exhibitions through Age UK Wirral’s wellbeing arts programme.

✨ Exhibition 1: Jim’s art group, featuring their beautiful illustrations and his own playful, humorous work.
✨ Exhibition 2 – “Home and Away”: A tribute to photographer Mal Hawkins, with stunning images from his family’s Wirral and European adventures. Some of these photos are still available to buy!
✨ Exhibition 3 – “In Stitches”: Our latest display, celebrating the work of three textile groups — from knitted and crocheted pieces to seven gorgeous quilts.

🫖 “In Stitches” runs until March. Pop in for a drink or light meal, have a look around, and maybe even join one of our creative groups. We’d love to see you! 💛

Wow, what a turnout we had for our Christmas event at Marine Place today! 🤩

We are all so incredibly grateful to all who showed up to get in the festive spirit in time for Christmas 🎅

A massive thank you to all our staff and the lovely volunteers who made this event possible and thank you to all who attended to make this so special for all of us!

Celebration of Life 🩷

Jims family would like to invite our community to join them in celebrating the life of Jim, a beloved member of our Marine Place family.

Jim was more than just a volunteer, he was a kind soul whose passion for art and community left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Through his generous spirit and creative heart, Jim brought joy, beauty, and inspiration to many. His dedication to supporting others and sharing his love of art helped shape a space where people felt seen, valued, and connected.

Have you been feeling down or anxious, and thinking about trying talking therapies? Drop in to Marine Place next Thursday to chat with Sophie and see if it's a good fit for you. Sophie can also help you with the referral process if you decide it's the right step.🩵

🥳 Our new gallery space is now open at Marine Place Cafe in West Kirby! 🥳

The first exhibition features works by members of the Wednesday Art Group and is entitled Jim’s P.A.LS. standing for PLAYFUL ART LOVING SOULS. The group is run by local artist Jim Fleming, who is the inspiration for the creation of the gallery. There is permanent exhibition of some of his work including beautiful prints paintings and sculptures in the gallery.

The cafe, run by Age UK Wirral, supports a range of creative groups and this gallery space will celebrate the work produced by local artists and makers with regular exhibitions across the year.

The gallery space opened with a private preview this week and was attended by the artists and their friends and families. As part of the evening, members of the Scribe Writing Group, who also meet at the cafe, read some of their work.
