After 41 years at the Goat, we’ve called last orders for the final time. It’s impossible to sum up all of the memories, friendships, late nights and early mornings in a post but most importantly, we want to say thank you…
To all those who made yesterday truly special. It was fantastic to see the pub filled with so many faces - old and new, and even a 1980s football reunion.
To all the staff over the years, who have been so much more than that. You are the people who have been by our side, day in day out.
To all of the customers over 5 decades who have joined us for Christmases, New Years Day singalongs, carnivals, karaoke nights, quizzes, school concerts, surgery lunches, lambing seasons, book clubs, Welsh lessons - and even showing up for takeaways through the pandemic.
To all our wonderful neighbours of top town, who make High Street what it is (and never complained about the odd late night)!
To all of other Llanfair landlords who have always supported each other - and lent us emergency supplies in a crisis! From John Michael and Moira, and Keith and Berys, on our first day to Ellen, Tara and Jeanette today.
To the all suppliers, who have helped us to make the menu possible over the years - filled with excellent local products and delivered with a smile.
To all the Dominoes, Darts and Pool teams over the years, who showed up for us even on a wintry Tuesday evening.
To the wonderful Sports teams who came to warm up or cool down after a session of tennis, netball, football, hockey or table tennis!
To the Young Farmers - and the no longer so young ones - who turn your hand to everything from panto sets, to tug of war and poetry! And never fail to bring your glasses to the bar.
To the volunteers, staff and visitors to the Railway who have been such a big part of the Goat family. We’ve always tried to squeeze in an extra one after long day shovelling coal!
We wish Sultan, Shakila, Saffraz and the family all the very best for the future! And now we’re off for a much needed holiday
