☕🎂 Well, this worked out rather nicely…

It’s International Coffee Day and it also happens to be Chris’s birthday! 🥳

If you know A House of Cake, chances are you know Chris. He might be making your coffee, writing up the cake counter, fixing something I’ve broken 😂 or disappearing out the back to tackle the next job.

But there’s another side to Chris that perhaps means even more to us.

Over the years, that counter has been a place for far more than coffee and cake. Chris is very often the one lending an ear, having a chat, noticing when someone isn’t quite themselves, looking out for people or simply making time when somebody needs it. 💗

That’s a big part of what we want A House of Cake to be — a little independent café where people know your name, notice when you haven’t been in for a while, and where you’re always welcome to pull up a chair.

So today we’re raising a coffee to Mr A House of Cake. ☕💗

84 today! 🎂💗

A very Happy Birthday to Mum — and A House of Cake’s very own Chief Pot & Bottle Washer. 😂

At 84 she’s still part of the gang behind the pink door: washer-upper, helper-outer, general sorter of things and a very important part of the family behind A House of Cake.

Because this place has always been more than cakes and coffee. It’s a family affair, and Mum is very much part of ours. 💗

So today we’re raising a cuppa (and obviously finding her some cake) to 84 years young.

Although we might let you off the washing-up today… 😉

🌙💗 Wow, Wellington & beyond… WHAT a day!

Yesterday the HoC gang well and truly went for it! 🩷

We were in TWO venues at once — part of the brilliant grand opening of Wellington’s new Pump Track with our Decorate & Take cupcakes 🧁, while the rest of the gang kept our pink café going on the High Street ready for Wellington Carnival. 🎪🎩

The café doors were open for a whopping 12 hours, while behind the scenes the HoC gang clocked up 14+ hour shifts. Safe to say there are some VERY tired Mad Hatters today. 😂

So we’re having a well-earned Slouchy Sunday. No café, no piping bags, no alarms… although Chris will still be wearing his apron because Sunday roast waits for no man! 😂🍽️

A huge thank you to everyone who found us at the Pump Track, came through our pink doors, grabbed cake, waved as the carnival went past, stopped for a chat or simply joined in with what was a cracking day for our town.

Today we slouch. Tomorrow we’re back — Monday 10–5, business as usual. 🩷

🎩🎪 WE ARE CARNIVAL READY! 🎪🎩

Lovely Wellington and beyond… today’s the day! ❤️

The hats are on, the café is dressed, the team are looking suitably bonkers and we are ready for Wellington Carnival 2026! 😂♠️♥️♦️♣️

We’re open 10am until VERY LATE tonight, so whether you’re popping in before the carnival, grabbing a treat while you wait for the floats, or joining us once the procession has passed — swing by Wellington’s pink café and say hello.

Four years of being right here in the heart of it, and we still love carnival day. 🩷

Just a few days to go until the official opening event for Wellington Pump Track! Join us on Saturday 26th September with demonstrations, stalls, food, and fun for everyone!

Pop down to the Recreation Ground between 10am and 2pm to join in. If you are hoping to ride on the track make sure you have appropriate protective gear on and please walk your bike across the field.

There will be an official photographer in attendance to capture the fun and hopefully some great action shots!

Well… this was a rather lovely little find! 🩷

Our little pink café in Wellington has popped up in Wanderlog’s 40 Best Cake Shops & Cake Bakeries in Somerset — at number 14! 🎂✨

Not bad for a little independent café doing what we love, right here in lovely Wellington.

Thank you, as always, to everyone who walks through our pink doors, recommends us, leaves us a review, shares our posts and tells their friends about us. You’re the reason our name keeps travelling a little further. 🩷

Although apparently Wanderlog thinks we’re in Rhode Island at one point… 😂 We can assure you we’re still very much in Somerset!
