🚪 ENTRY TO THE GOLDEN CROSS
We are always happy to welcome our customers to The Golden Cross. However, sometimes a person’s behaviour or actions cause us to reassess that welcome.
Although we are commonly referred to as a “public house”, the premises are in fact private property.
Entry to, and permission to remain on, the premises is at the discretion of the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) or their nominated deputy.
There is an important difference between being asked to leave and being barred.
👋 ASKED TO LEAVE
If you are asked to leave, you need to leave.
It does not necessarily mean that you are barred. It simply means that, for whatever reason, your evening with us has come to an end.
Respect the decision, head home and, in most circumstances, we’ll be happy to welcome you back another day.
🚫 BARRED
Being barred is different.
If you are barred, you need to leave and you are not welcome back until your barring has been lifted.
Turning up with friends, coming in on a different day or deciding that enough time has passed does not mean that a barring has ended. You must have been informed that it has been lifted before returning.
⏳ HOW LONG WILL I BE BARRED FOR?
That depends on what happened.
The length of a barring will reflect the circumstances and seriousness of the behaviour that led to it. Some barrings may be relatively short; others may be considerably longer.
There are also some behaviours which we consider serious enough that they may result in a lifetime barring, including:
⛔ Threatening, intimidating, verbally abusing or physically assaulting our staff
Our team has the right to come to work without being threatened, intimidated, abused or assaulted.
⛔ Drug-related offences
The possession, use, supply or other drug-related activity on or in relation to the premises will be treated extremely seriously.
⛔ Licensing offences
Behaviour which places our premises licence, our staff or our customers at risk will not be tolerated. This includes attempting to purchase alcohol for someone underage, supplying alcohol to someone underage, or other serious breaches of licensing requirements.
We want The Golden Cross to be somewhere people can come together, have a drink, enjoy themselves and have a great night — while our team can do their jobs in a safe environment.
For the overwhelming majority of our customers, none of the above will ever be relevant.
Come in. Enjoy yourself. Respect our team and each other — and you’ll always receive a warm welcome at The Golden Cross.
