It's the announcement we really didn't want to make, but unfortunately this year’s Summer Fayre has been cancelled due to the weather expected on Saturday. We know that many of you will be as disappointed as we are.
Come rain or shine, we always try to press ahead. However, this morning the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning of thunder storms, meaning it wouldn’t be safe or responsible to bring people together on the green.
Almost six months of preparation goes into organising the fayre, including coordination with the council, emergency services, stall holders, and local schools, so cancellation is always a last resort, and a very expensive one at that.
It’s also disappointing for the stallholders who were looking forward to attending. If you can, please support our local pubs, cafes and shops on Saturday; many of whom would normally do great business on fayre day.
We're so sorry that we won't be able to see you there on Saturday. But the fayre will be back next year and in the meantime, you can join us on Saturday 28 June for the largest ever Brewfest.
