Books and Bakes are due to announce their next Meet The Author event…. And we are so excited!!

Our next author event is happening Saturday 5th December, 2026 at 5pm.

We will announce the name very soon, but as with all our author events, ticket proceeds will be going to a charity of the author’s choosing.

So keep your eyes peeled for this announcement because it is SO exciting!!

Hey everyone!

Charlotte here from Books and Bakes, and we are back from the conference. I feel exhausted but also refreshed and excited for all the new ideas we have in store for you.

There will be lots going on behind the scenes in the next few weeks. You might find new furniture when you come in, new book bands with staff recommendations on, as well as many other exciting new books - some of which are already here and ready for you.

We have the wonderful Ann Cleeves’ new book The Dying Light with sprayed edges and hand signed.

For the younger audience we have exciting new additions in the way of a Sherlock Holmes graphic novel and ADHD Rapped Up by Mr G.

YA readers will be pleased to see we have a new choose your own romantasy story in the form of Blood, Moon Or Crown by Sara Sehdev, aswell as Girl of Darkness by Kristina Downling which has beautiful sprayed edges.

Lastly for this post, we have some absolutely stunning versions of Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights which have beautiful sprayed edges and would be a perfect addition to any collector’s shelf.

So Charlotte and Saturday Boy are at the Booksellers’ Association today and tomorrow, so you are all in Kelly’s very capable hands today.

She opened a little late due to coffee machine teething problems (she is a tempremental girlie and sometimes she doesn’t like that someone other than Charlotte is putting her through her paces)…

But Kelly is open now and looking forward to seeing all your wonderful faces.

Here at Books and Bakes, we are completely ready for the weekend.

We have extended our offering of The Zodiac Academy and now have books 1-7 in stock.

Victoria Aveyard’s Tempest is in stock in beautiful hardback edition.

Songbird In The Gallows by Alta Hensley is for fans of dark romance with serial killers.

Venetia Constantine’s The Last Starborn Seer is absolutely stunning. It has iridescent foiling and is just perfect to look at.

Dead Girls Don’t Talk by Sandra J Paul is having a moment in social media. Its actually 2 books in one- the same story told by the victim and the killer.

For the younger audience, we have Phill Corbett’s Ghost and Toast, which I’ve been reliably informed is fantastic.

Books and Bakes are always looking to bring you the best new books, and the best way we can do that is by attending the annual bookselling conference held by the Bookseller’s Association.

As such, we are having to close for a day.

Sunday 20th september, Kelly will be here for all your coffee and book needs from 10:30 until 4pm.

Monday 21st september, we will be closed.

Tuesday 22nd september, we will be back open as normal.

New in this week at Books and Bakes…

We have cakes by the ever-delicious Studio28 . This week’s offering are: blackcurrant cream cake, cherry and almond tart and salted caramel chocolate chip cookies.

Created by Almy has a new range of bookmarks out, all themed around autumn. So come and add to your bookmark collection today.

We are testing the waters by stocking dyslexia friendly books in store. We currently have a copy of ACOTAR and can order from Bloomsbury’s range if that is something you would like.

In terms of other new-in books, we have Twig’s Traveling Tomes by Gryffin Murphy for fans of cosy fantasy.

For the dark romance girlies, we have The Cute Psycho by Veronica Lancet.

Rebecca F Kuang’s latest offering - Taipei Story - is out now and we have a signed edition waiting for you to pick up.

For the monster romance lovers, we have Ashley Bennett now in stock.

We also have stock of some Sadie Kincaid.

Also, very excitingly, we now have a manga/graphic novel section. It is small but mighty right now, and we can order any specific editions or installments that you would like.
