Yesterday we had lots of fun at Birchwood Family Hub's Messy Play session. It was a paint/colour themed week this week and the children got very messy getting stuck into the activities. One of the children loved painting on the cling film wrapped around table legs so much so that she spent most of the session doing it. Another child got upset when it was time to go. Needless to say the session was a big hit and we will be returning soon for some more messy adventures :).

Our Nature/Eco group for childminders was back this week after the break for the summer holidays. We started our session as we always do with a litter pick of the park and then continued into the woods to do our theme of the week, Owls. The children listened to the story of Owl Babies, some joining in with repeated refrains, We sang songs, danced (a robin came and sat on a branch of a nearby tree to listen to the children singing :) ) and then the children made their own fabulous owls out of pinecones. When we had finished the session the children continued to play in the wooded area. Some of the children found a hole in the ground and filled it with leaves and sticks to make a nest for the owls. Well done everyone you were great :)

Our monthly childminder group joined forces with Liverpool Stronger Practice Hub earlier this month to showcase a performance of a fun mathematics story for the early years called Disgusting and Delicious Shapes. We were even lucky enough to have the fabulous author of the story, Denise Wright come along to join us. The children listened to the interactive story of Sammy the Snail, sang songs and carried out some shape activities. We finished the session with an indoor picnic as it was very wet and windy outside. The children absolutely loved this session and as they all got a free book to take home, I'm sure they will be having lots of shape themed fun at home too 🙂 See less

We spent 2 fabulous days last week at Walton Gardens attending the Zoo Keeper experience with our childminding friends. The children got up close to the cockerels, guinea pigs, sheep, goats, ducks, rabbits and pigs. My little ones loved the pigs, rabbit and sheep :). This is one of my favourite activities of the year. The children were so engaged and excited throughout and are still talking about it now. Of course it's always lovely to do it with our friends too :)

We are very lucky to have a wonderful childminding network in our area. This gives the children the opportunity to be with their own friends that they become close with from our setting but also to be able to mix with children and adults from other settings. This helps to give them the confidence to socialise in larger groups.

This week we have had the opportunity to mix with our local childminding friends and enjoy 2 lovely days in the shade of the trees on our local park On Thursday we had a great day at our World Cup Themed Sports Day, where the children also got an ice cream each as an end of term treat and on Friday we all enjoyed a Teddy Bears Picnic. Both sessions were completely in the shade so it was lovely and cool on two of the hottest days of the year. It is wonderful to see the children all mixing and developing their own little friendships :)
