It is with extreme mixed emotions that we officially announce the permanent closure of
The Plaice Station.

After 19 years we will be closing down with our last service on Friday 17th April.

The decision hasn’t come lightly. It comes after increasing pressure in the sector - soaring fish prices, reduced fishing quotas and political issues around the world, relentless demands on VAT amongst other ever increasing expenses effectively destroying any profit margins remaining. Truth is the product of Fish & Chips itself is facing its toughest battle. Being left behind in the battle in cost of living and no longer being the trademark “cheap as chips”.

With darkness shows light. The business will rejuvenate, rebrand, and come back stronger. We have fantastic plans to continue the work started by Quaker Coffee to have a real food first outfit here in Padgate. We aim to be at the forefront of the growing food scene here in Warrington and can’t wait to open the next chapter with you.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped us along the way. Our employees of past and present, we couldn’t have done it without you. Friends, family, suppliers and of course the community surrounding us as well.

It’s not the end, but the start of a new beginning.

It’s Good Friday!
No meat round here they say! Not an issue round are ways, fish everywhere. Prime bit o’ hake? Crumbed king prawn scampi or are fish cakes made by our own set of hard workers.

Get yourself in early by heading on t’internet booking your slot and whizzing past your neighbours in the queue “order for Jenny?” You’ll shout (unless your names not Jenny of course, smart a*se)

They’re dismissed, snubbed. Often chucked t’ bin.

Madness.
They’re the potential to unlock your true chippy tea. The stories of old, of a cheap tea when they were young. Chucked on top of chips with salt and vinegar. Or even just a bag for newt for the walk home before the streetlights came on.
They’re the toppings to add on, the gesture of nostalgia to your other half’s surprise.
