SEAS OF MIRTH // PRAY FOR MOJO // BOSSMAGS

Really looking forward to this one 😎

Seas of Mirth are one of those bands that are almost impossible to describe. A mad mix of wonky disco, funk, psychedelic prog and dance beats, with a live show that’s been known to involve UV lights, bubbles, giant sea creatures in the crowd and even a tug of war.

They’ve played Glastonbury and festivals all over the UK and Europe, and now they’re heading to Peggy’s.

Pray for Mojo need no introduction to plenty of you. Warrington’s own fuzzed-up psychedelic rockers have played some brilliant gigs here over the years, and we’re made up to have the boys back again.

Opening the night are Bossmags, a band who describe themselves as “Curio Punx”. They’ve built their name in the DIY punk scene with their madcap, theatrical live shows and have even taken their particular brand of chaos to Manchester Punk Festival.

It’s a slightly mad line-up, but it somehow makes complete sense 😂

NEW ON THE WEBSITE: PEGGY’S JOURNAL

We’ve added a Journal section to the Peggy’s website, and the idea behind it is pretty simple.

As well as sharing interviews, gig reviews, photos and videos from Peggy’s, we want it to be a starting point for anybody who’d like to get into music writing, photography or videography, but hasn’t had the chance to get their work out there yet.

We’re only a small platform, but everybody has to start somewhere. Whether you’re studying it, just starting out, getting back into it or simply fancy having a go, we’d love to hear from you.

All work will be credited, with links to your own socials, website or portfolio included on the page so people can find more of what you do.

If you’d like to review a gig, interview a band, photograph a show or put together some live video, give us a shout.

Have a look at the Journal at peggymccools.com

SLOWHANDCLAP are coming back to Peggy McCools

Well, even we’re exited for this on. Buzzing to say that after a looong time of trying to arrange a date (it’s taken over a year going back and to 😂😂) we’ve finally nailed a date down to bring slowhandclap back. If you’ve never seen them then make sure you get yourselves down for this one. After the last time they played I think I may have personally taken their listener numbers through the roof. They’ve got some serious bangers.

They’re going to be joined by a band we’ve been wanting to see for a while now. Cob have been all over the Manchester scene lately and we’ve heard big things about them.

You can grab tickets via our brand spanking new website www.peggymccools.com.

Buy tickets, bring friends, drink loads 🎫🍺

Our new website is finally live.

It’s taken a lot of going backwards and forwards to get it looking and feeling how we wanted it, but I’m made up how it has turned out.

You can now see all of our upcoming gigs in one place, find ticket links, look through the our gallery and read a bit more about how Peggy’s somehow went from an antiques business in our living room to a grassroots music venue in Warrington.

There’s also information for bands, artists and promoters who would like to put something on here, along with everything you need to know before visiting us.

One of the parts we’d really like to build on is Peggy’s Journal. We’d love to give a platform to anybody interested in writing about new music. That could be interviews with bands before they play, reviews of gigs at Peggy’s or longer pieces about music, venues and the people involved in the grassroots scene.
You don’t need loads of experience and it doesn’t need to sound like it has come from a polished music magazine. We’d rather it was honest, interesting and written by somebody who genuinely loves music.

The same goes for photographers. If you’re starting out, trying to build a portfolio or already taking photos at gigs, we’d love to show more of your work through the website and our socials, with full credit and links back to you.

Peggy’s has always grown through people having a go, helping out and bringing their own ideas into the place. Hopefully the website can become another way of giving people that opportunity.

There’s still plenty more we’ll add and improve over time, but it feels good to finally have somewhere that brings everything together.

Have a look and let us know what you think:

Original music in a small independent venue in Warrington.
