🚨 DID YOU KNOW THE GROOM IS HOME TO THE P.I.S.S. CLUB?! 🚨

Yes… you read that right… 😂

Before anyone starts wondering what goes on at The Horse & Groom; Let us explain…

The Purbeck Independent Simpletons Society (P.I.S.S.) was founded by Barrie Robinson and Hugh Elmes, with Barrie a proud member to this day!

Every third Wednesday of the month, around 25 members gather for lunch, a pint or two, plenty of terrible jokes, poems, amusing letters and a healthy dose of nonsense at The Groom!!

They’re even twinned with fellow Simpletons from Stoke-on-Trent - the brilliantly named S.H.I.T.S. (Stoke’s Humble Independent Troop of Simpletons) - and have friends in Australia who keep in touch too!

The best part? Every time someone wants a “P**s”, they put £1 into the P**s pot - with every penny going to Prostate Cancer Research. So while there’s plenty of laughter, there’s also a genuinely fantastic cause at the heart of it all.

One member described it perfectly as “a crèche for husbands!” 🤣 Giving the wives a few hours of peace and quiet while the lads solve absolutely NONE of the world’s problems! 😂

We’re proud to be home to such a unique group that proves pubs are about far more than just beer. They’re about friendship, community, raising money for great causes… and occasionally being able to say with a straight face…

We are so excited for our THIRD annual Country Weekend on 7th to the 9th August!! This ain’t our first rodeo and it’s bigger and better than ever before!!!

Friday 7th - Live Music from Courtney & Steve!! 🎵

Saturday 8th - Country DJ 🎧

Sunday 9th - Paul Michael with an afternoon Country Set!! 🎵

Plus a Texan inspired Menu!! 🌮
