⚠️ ESCALATION NOTICE – BUSINESS AWARENESS ⚠️
We are issuing this escalation following a non-payment incident involving a deliberate attempt to deceive our business.
On Saturday 21st March 2026 at approximately 20:27pm, an order totalling £125 was placed with The Miraj by a female identifying herself as April.
As per our standard procedure, we prepared the order within a 30-minute collection window. A male then attended our premises to collect the order, stating he was there on behalf of “April”.
Description of the individual:
- White male
- Wearing a black baseball cap
- Wearing a distinctive Sainsbury’s uniform jacket
Upon collection, we requested payment in line with our policy. The individual questioned whether payment had already been made and, when informed it had not, attempted to avoid payment by:
- Claiming he had no cash or physical card
- Requesting to pay via bank transfer (which we declined)
- Refusing a secure payment link
- Presenting what appeared to be a mobile banking app, later identified as a “prank bank”
When challenged, the individual stated he would return within 5–10 minutes with payment. No food was handed over.
After waiting, we contacted the number used to place the order and spoke again with the same female. She stated:
- “You did not want our money so we have gone and ordered a Chinese”
- When asked what to do with the prepared order, she responded: “Put it in the bin, we don’t care”
When informed that we would be escalating the matter, she became aggressive and threatened to damage our business reputation through false reviews and slander.
The call then ended.
We reported the matter via 101, however were advised this is currently being treated as a civil matter. This has been documented in our call log.
On Sunday 22nd March, we issued a 24-hour notice alongside CCTV imagery, giving those involved the opportunity to return and resolve the matter. They have chosen not to do so.
We are now escalating this publicly to:
- Make local businesses aware
- Prevent similar incidents
- Highlight a pattern of behaviour
We have reason to believe these individuals have targeted at least two other local businesses in the Great Wyrley / Cheslyn Hay area.
We also hold CCTV evidence including vehicle details, which will be shared with appropriate parties where necessary.
⚠️ We urge all local businesses to remain vigilant, particularly with high-value orders, and to ensure payment is secured before goods are handed over.
While the financial loss is not our primary concern, protecting our business and others in the community is.
We would appreciate this post being shared with other local groups and businesses to raise awareness.
