Are you sitting comfortably? It's origin story time ...
My dad Barry makes his signature chilli oil at the family takeaway in South London. The takeaway itself has been running for over 30 years and he started making the much loved condiment because he thought shop bought stuff wasn't as good as it could be.
He enjoys cooking and is generous with food so people can enjoy it and this love is reflected in his tasty and flavourful creations. My grandmother has told me he would swing by the markets after school to pick up ingredients for dinner while growing up in Hong Kong and he still loves to lay on an impressive spread for any special occasion or cook our favourites for me and my sisters whenever I visit home.
My name is Rebecca, his eldest daughter and during the Pandemic I started bottling and selling jars at local community events in Walsall, West Midlands where I now reside and it has been very popular with the neighborhood ever since. What started as a hobby/side hustle has now turned into a fun passion project and partnership with my father.
