As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, we're introducing some of the wonderful people who help make Inspire Community Cafe such a special place 💚

Phil is a fantastic supporter of the cafe and the creator of something truly special for our community — Lunchtime Live. Every Wednesday, Phil brings people together through a shared love of music, creating a welcoming atmosphere filled with friendship, talent and community spirit. It has become a much-loved part of Inspire and we're incredibly grateful for everything Phil does. He is always friendly, welcoming and willing to help wherever he can 🎶✨

⭐ What’s your role at Inspire?

“I run the Lunchtime Live music event every Wednesday. I organise different solo and duo acoustic acts who perform from 12 noon until 1pm.”

⭐ How long have you been part of the cafe?

“Lunchtime Live started after Covid restrictions were lifted and venues were able to fully reopen. The first event was in September 2021 and featured myself, as I'm a singer-songwriter, musician and performer.

It proved so popular that the café asked me to make it a regular weekly event — and here we are! The event is still going strong and Inspire is virtually full every Wednesday thanks to the fantastic support from our community.”

⭐ What’s your favourite thing on the menu?

“The cooked breakfast. I don't have one too often, but when I do it's always brilliant! Oh... and so are the chips!” 🍳🍟

⭐ Tea or coffee?

“If I'm at home it's usually tea. When I'm out, it's coffee — and the coffee at Inspire is always really good!” ☕

⭐ What are you most proud of as part of the Inspire team?

“Making Lunchtime Live a success with both the public, the performers and the cafe itself. Knowing that I've helped, alongside the rest of the team, create a real sense of community spirit and atmosphere is something I'm very proud of.” ❤️ 🎶

As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, we're introducing some of the wonderful people who have been part of the Inspire journey over the years 💚

Rachael brought so much positivity to Inspire during her time with us. She always had a smile on her face, was constantly busy working on something new, and was a passionate advocate for supporting women and helping them grow in confidence. Her enthusiasm, energy and encouragement left a lasting impact on both the team and our community ✨

⭐ How long were you part of Inspire?

“Jonny and I managed the cafe together between 2017 and 2018, but I continued working at Inspire for a few years after that.”

⭐ What’s your superpower during a busy shift?

“Speed writing. Speed walking. Basically, I do everything fast!” 😂

⭐ Describe Inspire in 3 words:

“Community, quality, caring.” 💛

⭐ What’s your favourite customer moment?

“When we held the women's breakfasts. I loved seeing women grow together, support one another and be encouraged by each other.”

⭐ What was the best part of your day at Inspire?

“Chatting to customers.”

Hannah is our most recent volunteer and is already proving to be a fantastic asset to the team. She loves to get stuck in, keep busy and is always keen to learn new skills. We’re so happy to have her as part of the Inspire family ✨

“Tea maker & dish duties 😂☕”

⭐ How long have you been at Inspire?

“About 5 months roughly”

⭐ Favourite thing on the menu?

“Tammy’s cheese panini! 🧀”

⭐ What keeps you coming back?

“Being able to get work experience in a busy place.”

⭐ What would you like to say to our customers/community as we celebrate 10 years?

“Thank you for supporting our café and keeping us busy! 💛 x”

As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, we’re introducing some of the wonderful people who have helped shape Inspire Community Cafe over the years 💚

Jonny is now one of Inspire's Directors and is a huge supporter of the cafe. He champions our ideas, encourages us to keep growing, and always has our backs. While he often works quietly in the background, we know he's always there if we need support, guidance or a sounding board — and we're incredibly grateful for that.

⭐ What’s your role at Inspire?

“Well, back in 2017 I was briefly the Joint Manager with Rachael! (She did a great job, me... hmmm! 😂) More recently I've become a Director.”

⭐ Tea or coffee?

“100% coffee. Don't get me started about tea!” ☕

⭐ What's your favourite thing about Inspire?

“The brilliant staff and volunteers, and the wonderful community they create.”

⭐ Best cake in the cafe?

“All of them, but apple pie and custard is up there! (Not strictly a cake, but a firm favourite!)” 🍏🥧

“Welcoming, creative, community.”

⭐ What would you like to say as we celebrate 10 years?

“Wow — 10 years. At times it's been so tough, but the staff, volunteers and wonderful customers have made it possible not only to survive, but to thrive. Thank you to everyone for making this such a special place.”

Jeri is a reliable, hardworking member of our team who is always willing to go the extra mile — often covering shifts at the last minute without hesitation! She loves to clean and can usually be found with a hoover, brush or spray bottle in hand keeping Inspire looking its best ✨

“Coffee — a vanilla latte. Has to be Adam’s and Russell’s of course!” ☕

⭐ What’s your superpower during a busy shift?

“Knowing people’s usual! I might not remember everyone’s name, but I remember what they like to drink.” 😊

⭐ Hidden talent?

“Fixing broken things! My friends know to ask me if something needs repairing because if I don’t know how… I’ll find out and learn. Whether it’s a machine, furniture, clothes or even construction work. When I’m not at work, I can usually be found somewhere beneath a pile of fabric, reclaimed wood or tools.” 🔨✨

“The variety of groups and how every day brings a totally different mix of wonderful people.” 🥰

As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, we’re introducing some of the amazing people behind Inspire Community Cafe 💚

Tammy is a much loved and hugely valued part of the team. She works incredibly hard in the kitchen — even on the hottest and busiest of days! She takes great pride in everything that leaves the kitchen, but no matter how stressful things get, she always brings her brilliant sense of humour to work and is often found laughing away, especially when Rebecca is on shift with her 😂💛

“Prosecco 🥂”

⭐ What’s your superpower during a busy shift?

“Making 40+ different meals in our tiny kitchen during our Wednesday Lunchtime Live hour!” 🍳🔥

⭐ What are you proudest of since working here?

“Turning the coffee bar into a thriving community café. Being able to support our local community with good quality freshly cooked food at a reasonable price, whilst also being able to provide free meals to those in need.

And for still being here after 10 years! — here’s to many more.” 💚

James is our former Assistant Manager, also Tammy's son and still a very loved part of the Inspire family. His humour, personality and ability to keep customers smiling during even the busiest shifts made him unforgettable to both staff and customers alike 😊
