IMPORTANT UPDATE – THE CHESTERS
Despite our best efforts, unfortunately The Chesters will remain closed at the minute.
Our barristers and Stonegate are currently in discussions in an attempt to resolve the dispute as quickly as possible.
We also want to address some of the rumours currently circulating. We are involved in an ongoing legal dispute with Stonegate concerning another site in Carlisle, where we maintain that a considerable amount of money is owed to us.
While that dispute continues, Stonegate has taken action to close The Chesters without prior notice. Our position is that this represents a breach of the lease, and the matter is now being handled by our barristers.
Our barristers, Stuart and Charlie from Cerulian Law, specialise in cases involving Stonegate, so we are very hopeful that a resolution can be reached soon.
Our staff are extremely important to us, and while this situation is ongoing, all members of The Chesters team have been offered temporary positions at our other sites.
For anyone with an upcoming booking, please bear with us. We are doing everything we can to get The Chesters back open as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding your booking, please message the page directly.
Regarding tomorrow’s comedy night, the show will still go ahead and has been moved to The William Jameson. The event will now be free entry.
Anyone who has already purchased a ticket can choose between a full refund or a £20 bar tab at The William Jameson tomorrow evening. Whichever option you choose, you are still welcome to attend and enjoy the show free of charge. Please message us directly to arrange your preferred option.
We sincerely apologise to our customers, staff and everyone affected by the closure. Thank you for your patience, understanding and all the messages of support we have received.
We are doing everything we can to resolve the situation and get The Chesters back open as soon as possible.
