ONE WHOLE YEAR OF MY PLAYFUL WORLD
Long Post Warning 😂….
One whole year. 🥹
Today marks one year since I officially took over My Playful World and honestly… what a year it’s been.
When I look back at the last 12 months, I can’t quite believe how much has happened. There have been busy days, stressful days, “how have I sold so many cakes?” days, but more than anything, there have been SO many moments that have made me incredibly proud to call My Playful World mine.
A huge thank you to Meisha and Izzy, who helped me so much in those very early days of the takeover. I genuinely couldn’t have done it without you both helping me find my feet and navigate those first few months. 🥰
And to my Mum, Dad & Sister- thank you will never quite cover it. From helping with Josef so I can keep everything running, to all the countless things you do behind the scenes that nobody sees… you’re both a massive part of My Playful World.
Dad, I’ll never forget you spending hours in January building all of our new toys with me and as for my Mum, thank you for washing, drying and folding all of our cloths and costumes every single week. 😂 It might not be the glamorous side of owning a play centre but it makes such a huge difference!
Then came Tash and Amelia in January, who stepped in and became such an important part of our little team. Thank you both for everything you do and for helping me keep MPW running week after week. 💚
And then there are our incredible families.
Thank you to every single person who has walked through our doors over the past year. To the families who have been with us from the beginning, the families who have discovered us recently and the little faces I’ve watched grow and come to know so well.
There are children whose names I know, whose favourite toys I know (the black gate for most of you 😂), whose little personalities I recognise as soon as they walk through the door… and honestly, that’s one of the loveliest parts of this job. 🥰
I also have to give a little shoutout to my baking skills because HOW have they improved this much in a year?! 😂🍰 From the first bakes to the ridiculous amount of brownies, cakes and treats I’ve made since, I’m pretty proud of how far I’ve come!
And when I actually stop and think about it… somehow, from September to December last year, I was running My Playful World, baking, teaching AND being a mum all at the same time. 😂😂
Honestly, I don’t know how I did it.
So surely… this year is going to feel like a breeze, right?! 😂😂😂
And finally, Josef. ❤️
Thank you for being so patient when Mummy has to answer emails, reply to social media messages, finish something for MPW or suddenly decides she absolutely has to bake a cake at the last minute. 😂 You’ve had to share me with My Playful World quite a lot this year and I’m so grateful for how understanding you are. I do however know that you much prefer me running MPW to when I was teaching!
Running My Playful World has taught me SO much over the last year. About business, people, problem-solving, baking, marketing, childcare and probably most importantly… that I am capable of far more than I sometimes give myself credit for.
I’ve still got SO much to learn, and I’m sure there will be plenty more “right, how am I going to sort this?!” moments along the way but I really hope that I’m doing this little place justice.
I’m incredibly proud of what My Playful World has become over the last year, and I’m even more excited for what’s still to come.
And speaking of what’s to come…
-Halloween sessions with Debutots
-Our Halloween Party
-And yes… I think we might even be allowed to start whispering about SANTA VISITING IN DECEMBER… 🤫🎄
Here’s to another year of play sessions, happy children, happy grown ups, great tasting coffee, homemade bakes, dressing up, making memories and hopefully lots more of the magic that makes My Playful World what it is. 💚
Thank you for an incredible first year.
Love,
Billie x
